Broadcast, 276, 3, 2, 1. ComicMix.com Set your T-Vos, Watchmen Footage coming up tonight. ComicMix.com Hi, it's Mike Raub and yes, some Watchmen Footage hitting the TV screen tonight during the Spike Awards.
We'll give you the where and the when and a big trip to the comic store to keep you happy between now and then. I'll come it up on… October 21st, 2008 ComicMix News The Spike Scream Awards for the year were held over the weekend.
You won't see the ceremony though until later tonight on the Spike TV network. Don't want to really spoil it for you, but I will say there's a lot of comic book influence here and a lot of Dark Knight all over the place. Most interesting though will be that sometime during the broadcast there'll be some new alleged footage from the Watchmen movie. No idea what they're going to show or when it's going to show up in the broadcast. Set your T-Vos right now.
It is tonight on the Spike Network airing at 9 p.m. Eastern and 9 p.m. Pacific Time as well. Deadpool number three is sold out again. I think make it a three in a row for that title. There's a second printing variant on the way as well. With artwork by regular artist Paco Medina. Deadpool three, second printing variant cover in stores on the 19th of November.
Hi, this is Darwyn Cooke and you're listening to ComicMix. ComicMix Radio What's coming out this is this week. At the top left of our shelf this week is Terry Morris continuing new series Echo from abstract studios. He's up to issue number seven there.
If you're feeling a little nostalgic, how about Metamistory number 74? Some great Golden Age reprints from AC Comics or if you're feeling a little radical. There's the Warren Ellis, the theoretic mechanics graphic novel from Avatar this week. Couple of different editions of that one. Choose wisely.
From Boom Studios Zombie Tales number six and Warhammer 40K Fire and Honor number two in a four issue miniseries. Both of those come with equal splits on different covers so you get some more choices there. From Dark Horse, The Evil Dead, Trade Paperback is a pretty easy choice this time of year. There's Fair Agent number 24 as well. Hellboy, the all-seeing novel this week.
Also for the manga fans, Hellsing, The Trade Paperback volume number nine. And Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic number 34. And a mainstay for quite a while from Dark Horse. Usagi-Yo Jimbo hits issue number 115 this week. From DC there's the Batman 12 issue miniseries.
Gotham After Midnight we're up to issue number six now. Birds of Prey number 123 this week. Blue Beetle number 32. The Catwoman Trade Paperback crime pays and then our first best Batman. It's cool.
One thing DC does well is the seasonal one time a year little one shot. So the stories are admired down at the continuity. And they're usually a lot of fun done by artists who never have a chance to do these characters on a regular basis. That being said, look for DC Universe Halloween 08 this week. That's one of our best bets.
Then we move on to DMC number 35. Family Dynamic winds up the three issue series with number three this week. Final Crisis number four hopefully making some sense as it plunges toward the end of its seven issue run. And if that doesn't help you get the primer of Final Crisis Submit this week. First issue of that.
Friday the 13th the second volume in that Trade Paperback collection is out this week as well. It's gone volume six the Heavy Liquid hardcover and Hellblazer number 248 this week. Also in hardcover Legion of Superheroes Enemy Rising. Nice collection there. There's the Northlanders Trade Paperback the very first one reprinting that Vertigo series this week.
Also scalp number 22 this week at a Showcase Volume reprinting World's Finest Stories from the early 1960s. That's the second volume in that run. The first of at least two primers to help new people get geared up for the Spirit movie. This is a trade paperback called Spirit Femme Fatales this week. A lot of interesting stuff in there.
And then our next best bet, Mega Day 2 for DC. It's cool. We've said before if there's anything interesting going on at DC right now. It's what's coming off the computer screen of Geoff Johns. And this week's Superman New Krypton Special Number One begins.
A lot of storylines in the Superman and the DC Universe converge here. There's also a varied edition for that if you're lucky enough to grab it. Also this week Tangent Superman's Reign Number Eight. That's a 12 issue series as it runs along. For the All Ages group Tiny Titans Number Nine and for the diligent.
There's another issue of Trinity of course this week in Number 21. First issue of another character brought back in the spotlight this week is Unknown Soldier Number One. And also has a varied edition. There's Wildcat's Number Four this week and another nice grab is the Why the Last Man Deluxe Edition Hardcover from DC. Devil's Do continues at Dragonlance Chronicles in a couple of different versions.
First of all there's the Hardcover Collection, the fourth volume of that. And the Trade Paperback Collection as well. That's Volume Three in that run. There's also a Forgotten Realms Hardcover this week. And also from Devil's Do first issue of Rest a couple of different covers there including one by Tim Seo.
And the Worlds of Dungeons and Dragons continues as issue number six. And again a couple of different covers from there as well. From Dynamic Forces Army of Darkness Number Fourteen, Battlestar Galactica Origins Number Eleven this week. There's Brothers in Arms Number Four and Xena vs. the Army of Darkness. What again?
A brand new series with that crossover unlikely as it may seem. Begins with issue number one this week. IDW this week checks in with Angel after the fall number thirteen. And they give their first crack at the GI Joe franchise with GI Joe and New Beginning issue number zero this week. There's the Steve Niles Omnibus Trade Paperback.
Some good stuff in there. The Town of Zack Hardcover this week. Transformers All Hail Megatron is issue number four. And there's the Transformers Animated Trade Paperback the fifth volume of that one. From MH Armory Wars 2 number five winds up that series.
There's Cyblade number one with a couple of different covers. Another Robert Kirkman Invincible this week that's issue number fifty four. Noble Causes continues at number thirty seven and a cool idea here. Pilot Season 2008 an entire set of all the issues that ran in that contest completed just a few weeks ago. That's new this week from Image.
From Marvel we start with an Amazing Spider-Man variant. Second printing of number five seventy two is out this week. And then the Amazing Spider-Man number five seventy four. First printing new issue that's on the stands. There's Captain America number forty three.
And Brubaker's Criminal 2 number six this week. There's Daredevil number one twelve. A lot of interesting stuff going on there. There's by the way a zombie variant for that issue. Frank Miller's Electra is contained into a hardcover omnibus this week for your bookshelf.
The Ghost Rider Splitting continues with Ghost Rider Danny Catch number one. That's a five issue series. There's the Halt of Horror Lovecraft premium hardcover this week again for your bookshelf. Hulk continues with number seven and there's a variant on that one as well. There's also the Hulk, Heart of the Atom premium trade paperback.
Couple of different versions of that book. For the all ages group Marvel Adventures Super Heroes number four. There's the Mighty Avengers trade paperback The Venom Bomb. That's the second volume in that run. There's Ms. Marvel number thirty two.
First at the Secret Invasion tie-ins this week starts with New Avengers number forty six. There's New Exiles number thirteen. New Warriors number seventeen. Runaways three number three. Samurai Legend number two which is a four issue run.
Secret Invasion almost ready to the wind up. It's number seven in the eight issue run with the usual pile of variants with that one. And there's also Secret Invasion Amazing Spider-Man number three which winds up that run this week. There's She-Hulk two number thirty four this week. Also the Sky Doll premium hardcover.
Better just go out and get a new bookshelf. Captain Trips the stand of the miniseries also gets a second printing variant of issue number one this week. Then our next best bet. You know with all the Secret Invasions and final crises that are out there we kind of overlooked this book for the past few months. J. Michael Sierzinski and what he's been doing with Thor this week.
Thor the truth of history is a one shot. Issue number one this week deserves a look. Also this week another Secret Invasion tie-in. Thunderbolts number one twenty five. Marv Wolfman and Gene Colins very best are contained in the Tomb of Dracula omnibus hardcover this week.
It's True Believers number four. That's got one more to go in the five issue run. Ultimate Spider-Man number one twenty seven and the ultimate X-Men trade paperback volume nineteen. There's also the weapon Omega trade paperback. And then Wolverine manifest destiny number one begins this week to tie into that X-Men storyline.
It'll be four issues when it's done. There's X-Factor number thirty six and then yet another hardcover. X-Force Angels and Demons volume one a premium hardcover version with a couple of different variants there. There's also X-Men Legacy number two seventeen. X-Men the long shot premium hardcover again with two more different variants on that one from Marvel.
Doesn't matter how much you spend on comics this week you got to have something left when you hit the DVD store. Especially to pick up The Incredible Hulk and this is the one that they say has that extra scene. Yep the Captain America scene everybody's talked about allegedly is in the special edition of The Incredible Hulk DVD. Couple of different versions of that make sure you get the right one. Also this week on DVD the Strangers Unrated Zombie Strippers hits DVD as well this week.
Can you tell Halloween is close. There's Expelled No Intelligence Allowed this week on DVD Direct. Also Sweeney Todd a special edition of that for your collection. George Romero's Diary of the Dead has yet another extreme collection as well. And in some lighter fare there's the Stone Angel and Matthew Perry's Birds of America this week.
As well as Anaconda 3 Offspring. Yep it's Direct to DVD this week. Still though some great repackaging including a whole bunch of different things done for the James Bond franchise. First of all there's a couple of three packs of repackagings of boobies that are complete in Blu-ray and absolutely gorgeous. Those were available this week as well.
Also this week on DVD for the James Bond fans there are special editions of Dr. No from Russia with Love. Thunderball, Live and Let Die and Octopussy as well. A little more of the date there's also a special edition of Die Another Day and of course a special edition this week of Casino Royale the new version as well as one of this. Okay so the theme was the only good thing. You can get a CD and not have to worry about buying the DVD.
But if you're of a mind to be a James Bond completist then you can get the special edition of the original Casino Royale. From TV this week there's Family Guy Volume 6 The Incredible Hog, the original series, Lou Ferrigno, Bill Bixby style. That comes along with the complete fifth season this week as well. Also the complete Man from Uncles series. This one kind of slipped under the wire and that's an important thing to think about maybe for the holidays.
Also the complete collection of Knight Rider this week on DVD and also Route 66 Season 2 if you go back that far on your TV watching. And just in time for the next holiday a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving this week on DVD. This week down in the spinner rag we had some interesting choices but we're still getting adventure comics in the one dollar format from DC. We're up to number 467 which actually had some original plastic band material in it. There was Brave and Bold number 158, Green Lantern number 124, House of Mystery was up to number 276 this week.
There was also the Legion at number 259 and the New Adventures of Superboy number 1. No idea why they did that. From Marvel there was Marvel 2 in 1 number 59, Master of Kung Fu number 84. Also this week there was Savage Sword number 48, ROM Space Knight at issue number 2. There was Battlestar Galactica number 11 and Great Things Being Done by Chris Claremont and John Byrne at Uncanny X-Men number 129.
In the news President Jimmy Carter and Senator Edward Kennedy joined together to dedicate the $20 million John F. Kennedy Memorial Library in Boston. The EPA released a report calling for the ban of all products containing the pesticide DPCP. And the FBI dropped six long standing federal warrants against members of the Weather Underground. In the movies there was When a Stranger Calls, a new version of Dracula, Some of the Best in Deer Hunter and Justice for All. And what I think was an unsung science fiction classic.
Malcolm McDowell in Time After Time. TV Tonight had the wonderful World of Disney as they did every Sunday. There was also a TV Guide special covering the first 25 years of the shows we loved. Remember a show called The Associates? That was tonight as well as an episode of Trapper John and we were just oh so sophisticated.
Looking over to PBS for a little bit of British and Benny Hill. On the radio singer Robin Scott made his one trip to the top count by getting David Bowie to do the rhythm clap in the back of this one. Very infectious as for sure at the top of the chart for M and… ComicMix We finally get to sit down with Darwyn Cooke later in the week and find out what the deal is behind that IDW series Parker that he's planning.
