And here we are again, with all the new product coming from DC. We have a tip of the hat to the original Justice League of America #8, the first endings from the New 52, and… oh heck, let’s just dive in, shall we? As usual, spoilers lurk below.
I’ve spent the last few months praising the DC New 52 in one form or another. Months before the books came out, I was debating those who thought the reboot was anything from a simply bad idea to the end of the world, as we know it. I defended the idea then and in fact…
… or how I learned to stop worrying about Michael Davis and love his bombs. So let’s just get this out of the way. The last Spanish class I took was senior year in high school. I did get an A in it. But between then and now I’ve filled my brain with other more…
I’m enjoying the back-and-forth between my fellow columnists Marc Alan Fishman and Michael Davis regarding DC’s New 52, but now it has come to the point where I must give Marc, ComicMix’s own Snapper Carr, some love. (Hey, Snapper, just swallow it. We’ve already got Johnny DC writing here. No kidding.) For a third of…

Because Marc Alan Fishman doesn’t. A few days ago Marc wrote that he doesn’t like the New 52 and he took me to task over a few things I wrote in my Why I Like The New 5 article last week. It seems that Marc, or he who is Dead To Me, or simply Dead…
For those following along with all of the columnists here at ComicMix, no doubt you checked out Michael Davis’ article “Why I Like The New 52”and Michael made some great points. DC’s reboot of their entire line of superhero comic books was, as he so eloquently put it, ballsy. Oh, but the self-proclaimed Master of…
Because I’m trying to kiss the ass of DC Comics. The end. Well that’s not really true. If you know anything about my history you will know the last thing I’d ever do is kiss ass. It’s simply not in my DNA not now, not ever. I’ve been in many a situation where a well…
Most people in the industry know that my best friend is Denys Cowan. Denys is one of the greatest comic book artists that the business has ever seen. He’s the artist a lot of other artists look at and as to underscore that fact he’s been nominated for not one but two Eisner awards for…
Look, they can’t all live forever. It’s a sad fact of life. Just as every new TV season brings shows that sound good on paper and test well in pilot stage, some series are going to be cancelled sooner or later. Even DC’s new 52 initiative, with multiple printings, will have series that will go…
Just some rambling… DC’s New 52 made the New York Times again. The title of the article is “So Far, Sales For New DC Comics Are Super,” by George Gene Gustines and Adam W. Kepler was published on Saturday, October 1, 2011 issue, and was featured on the front page of the Arts Section. According…
My pal Heidi MacDonald, has done a great job of covering the critical discussion of DC’s depiction of female characters in The New 52. Thanks to her, I read this awesomely thoughtful analysis by Laura Hudson, and this terrific bit of snark. So there’s not a lot I can add from a political perspective. Instead,…
All hands brace for a confession….Yeah, you got me. I admit that all the noise surrounding DC Comics’ reboot or relaunch or reinvention…whatever you call it, all the dust raised by this activity has caused me the occasional twinge. I worked in the comics trenches for a lot of years and some of it I…
