Robbs starting out another set of podcasts. We scrimped all weekend long so we could hit the comic book stores this week. And boy are we going to get rewarded with a real pile of goodies. We'll also find out where a few missing comics are and we'll dissect the doctor in his third season debut. All that and more on April 3rd, 2007 ComicMix. What's coming out this week? You know if I start this out by saying, oh, another big

week of comics, you're going to say, you say that every week, Mike. So how about if I simply say, oh, a whole bunch of comics this week that I am looking forward to. Starting with the second issue of Joss's Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 Buffy number two is out. Better hurry to get that one. You know how fast number one disappeared. Now one of the books that we're real interested in this week is a companion volume with the history

of the Blue Beetle. It's from the guys that do this sort of work, the best of anybody, the folks at Two Morrows. And we spoke to Christopher Irving, the guy who put this whole volume together, just about what we can expect. Everything Beetle. I'm talking 1939 to today. I even had Victor Fox, the original Blue Beetle publisher, his death certificate. I found out how he died. For 50 years, no one has

known what happened to this guy and I dug it up. So from a historical perspective, that's the way to go. It also goes all the way up to Jaime Ries and the very fun DC run out right now. It's, gosh, it's got so much artwork. Everyone from Lou Fine to Steve Ditko, some original artwork as well. It's a really nice Mike Zextee. I think it's here somewhere else, but we were able to do it. Original Colly Hamner front cover and the back cover is original

by Tom Feaster of Jolly Roger Studios. He's mostly known as an anchor, but it's a darn good pencil or two. But anyways, it's a complete history of the character. Everything you wanted to know in then. Again, look for that this week, the Blue Beetle companion from Tomorrow's as well as alter ego number 67. We love that magazine from our good buddy Roy Thomas from DC this week. Showcase presents a legion of superheroes volume one, all the great legion

stories in one volume for you. 52 number 48 were winding down on that one. The new Adam number 10 danger girl body shots. Number one from the Wildstorm arm of DC comics this week. The tattoo comics number 831, Jack of fables. Number nine Justice League of American. Number seven. Now this comes in three different covers. There's a standard cover a and a standard cover B. So you should be able to find both of those at your retailer. But there also

is of course the variant cover and you need to talk to them if you want to grab that because it is hard to find. Midnighter number six this week. Nightmare on Elm Street. Number seven and Nightwing number 131 also from DC. Double shot of Supergirl. Supergirl number 16 and Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes. Number 28, Superman number 661, Superman Batman number 33 and welcome to tranquility number five. I write over to image comics for the

dynamo five second printing a number one that we talked about for a couple of weeks. It's finally out with a new variant cover as well as nights at the dinner table number 125 from image at Marvel Dark Tower. Gunslinger born the variant and the regular issue of number three out this week. Fallen sun death of Captain America. The very first of those series of one shots. This one the Wolverine issue this week. Marvel zombies army of darkness number

two Thunderbolts presents Zemo born better number three and a big book Avengers initiative number one better grab that one. It'll probably disappear quick. Couple of good trade paperbacks to Alpha flight classic volume one with some great stories in there equally good essential Spider-Man volume eight in trade paperback from the neighborhood Spider-Man number 19 this week that continues the back in black red hot storyline. Hulk and Power Pack number two and immortal Iron Fist number four all this week as well as setting up for World War Hulk incredible Hulk number 105 Iron Man hyper velocity number four irredeemable and man number seven is Marvel number 14 Omega flight number one in case you got that trade paperback of Alpha flight that should lead you right into that Punisher number 46 Runaways number 25 and Spider-Man family number two all this

here these are the list of comics that aren't out but should have been out and why aren't they out we got a whole list to run through here so grab your pencil starting with Dark Horse Star Wars Dark Times number three should have been on a while ago it is now scheduled for the first week of May number four then will be coming out of the end of May from Dark Horse over to DC Comics 100 Bullets number 83 is now scheduled for the end of April the 25th of the month as is Dead Man number nine

and a great book Shazam the Monster Society of Evil number three from Jeff Smith Bad Man number 665 has been rescheduled for the first week in May along with Green Lantern number 19, Hulk Girl number 63 and Loveless number 18. Over to Image Pirates of Coney Island number six has been rescheduled for the 11th of April Walking Dead number 37 has been off the chart for a while now they say we will see that one as well on the 11th of April. Savage Dragon number 133

has been moved to the 18th of April and Texas Strangers number two from Image also coming on April 18th. Godland number 18 has been moved to the 25th of April and Savage Dragon number 134 because the previous issue was late has been moved over to the 9th of May. Some interesting things for Marvel The Legion of Monsters Man thing number one that's been moved back a week it'll be on the 11th of April as well as Marvel Spotlight Spider-Man should be interesting because of the heat on Black

and Black right now that comes out the 11th of April. New Universal number five of the 11th of April big week and Powers number 24 guess what also the 11th of April along with She-Hulk 2 number 17. X-23 Target X number five that miniseries comes out the 18th of April now it's been moved up a couple of weeks. New Excalibur number 19 to April 25th and X-23 Target X number six has been moved to the end of May the 30th of May and Legion of Monsters Morbius has been moved to the end of

When you moved on down the road to Marvel Comics and number 89 of Avengers was out this week it was the high point because we were right in the middle of the Kree Skrull war there. In fact it was the beginning of that arc in a classic story with artwork by Selves Semen story by Roy Thomas. Amazing Adventures number seven well guess what it had the Inhumans

with a cover and artwork by Neil Adams. Also of course Conan came out this week Conan number seven Barry Smith and a great great story adapted from Robert E Howard's The God in the Bull. In news alleged Vietnam Massacre architect Lieutenant William Calley was remanded to home custody but kept under tight surveillance however he had visitors from a number of supporters including Governor George Wallace and Egypt's new proposal for reopening the Suez Canal through mixed reaction.

In movies what a classic week it was there was cold turkey there was bullet there was Bonnie and Clyde all waiting for you to buy a ticket and then there was this one little big man come out and fight it is a good day today. One of the greats from the incredible Dustin Hoffman. On TV NBC aired a repeat of the Jerry Lewis flick The Nutty Professor while the other networks filled their time with the Pearl Bailey show The Young Lawyers and Fred and Company. Hi welcome to

our show. Hey what's going on around here this hour in the morning? Did you hear that? No you want to give five days a week it's like four days to get you up. Now that it's my turn to sleep you're up at the crack of dawn. On the radio ah the freedom of 1971 to be able to use the word toke in a song title. Got these guys to the top of the chart for at least one time is Brewer and Shipley. One toke over the line sweet Jesus one toke over the line sitting downtown in a railway station one

A few days ago our friends in Britain got treated to the season three debut of Doctor Who and we got to see a copy too and now we should tell you there's going to be a spoiler coming up here. So cover your ears or be brave and plunge ahead as Matt Raub tells you what he thinks. That's right folks Matt Raub here and no I'm not here to ruin another movie you were hoping to run out and see this weekend. I'm actually switching

mediums in a way from the silver screen to your TV screen. I recently caught the season three premiere of the relaunched Doctor Who series which I know is technically season 29 but who's really counting. Moving on this premiere was the first episode with the Doctor's new companion medical student Martha Jones played by Frima Agumen. The premise is that the hospital that Jones works at is transported to the moon along with the doctor playing along as maladroit patient John Smith.

Once there a race of intergalactic police in the form of giant rhino people scour the hospital for a fugitive they believe is hiding out there. So in a game of beat the clock the doctor and his newfound companion need to find the fugitive before everyone in the hospital loses air and suffocates. Now there were two parts to this episode that I absolutely loved and I will break them down for you don't worry. The first is that in taking out one of the fugitives henchmen the doctor loses his

shoes making him solve the rest of the case barefoot. Now fans of the film die hard remembered this very well because it gave Bruce Willis's John McClain a huge vulnerability that we the audience emphasized with. The same case works here as we the audience are all essentially going up against an army of rhino people barefoot thus leaving me at the edge of my seat. The second thing that I both loved and hated is that in the same shoe losing battle the doctor's beloved sonic screwdriver

gets destroyed. Now every great hero has always had an awesome tool or weapon that they use to fight the forces of evil. Captain America had his mighty shield, Green Lantern had his awesome ring and Superman had well his bulletproof pecs. Either way when the doctor loses his relatively harmless yet very handy sonic screwdriver I was instantly heartbroken but worry not hoovians because by tv magic and one line of exposition the doctor gets a new screwdriver

by the end of the episode. The episode kept me enthralled from titles to credits. I thought I was going to have some trouble with adjusting to the very not blonde Martha Jones but her nerdy yet seductive attitude makes me love her that much more. I give this episode an astounding 9 out of 10 with the only downfall that I have to wait a whole six days for more who.
