February 19th, 2008. ComicMix News. It happens every February and every toy fan in the world knows about it. It's Toy Fair 2008 when manufacturers from all over the planet gather in New York City to showcase, premiere, hint and tease at all the things coming out in the near future and sometimes even beyond that.

So what do we find as we walk up and down the aisles where we've got a lot to share with you? Hang on. A few months ago we told you that Mattel was in the process of getting DC toys back into the stores and we're talking the big toy stores in a big way. Mattel signed a long term partnership with Warner Brothers and DC Comics that's really unlocked the vault of over 3,000 characters within the DC world

and 2008 is really the first opportunity for us to introduce many of the characters that we now have access to. That's PJ Lewis from Mattel who's happy to take a step by step through this new line of DC toys. Each comes packed out with a piece of a larger builder figure where fans, collectors alike can collect across a wave and build a larger figure. Alright, so who do we build in wave number one?

Rex Mason, Metamorpho. And who's the big figure in wave number two? Gorilla Grodd. You want some variants? Well they've got these two. Now grab a pencil. Here's the exclusive rundown.

There are variants in both ways. You have a Deathstroke variant in wave two as well as a Superman Reddy Blue variant as well as Firestorm and then moving on to wave three Aquaman and Sadecera. Mattel's big reveal of Toy Fair was their DC Comics infinite heroes line and it is something to see. In 2008 some of the big news for Toy Fair has been our three and three quarter inch scale, our infinite heroes. It's all about infinite battles, infinite worlds within the DC Comics universe.

We're really really excited because we have some great figures that have never before been out in any of our previous lines in the six inch line within the Justice League line and it's all about providing the fans an opportunity to buy deep into their favorite worlds. The thing I found amazing was the wide array of DC characters that are in this line. You're going to find some pretty unusual names. The questions out there, he's a 2008 character. We have Hush, Black Hand, Wildcat. We got some great characters out there that we're really excited to provide an opportunity for fans to collect.

The infinite heroes line comes in both singles and in three packs and it just gets better. We'll do about 45 characters for 2008. Our singles, we have a great selection and then our three packs. Tell a little bit of a story, a little bit of a theme. For example, one of my favorites is Gotham City pack where we have Commissioner Gordon packed out with two police officers from the Gotham City Police Force. You got the old Flash, you got the classic Flash in there. Yes, we were going to show him as well as Hawkman and some of the Thangarian soldiers. One of the big things that we saw was, well, what we didn't see and that was Mattel's long list of characters and new innovations that are still coming down the line for the DC Infinite Heroes.

We're going to keep this line fresh and just make sure it keeps moving on strong. It may be a cliche, but as you wander the aisles of Toy Fair, you really just never know what you're going to run into. For example, imagine my surprise when I turned the corner and I happened to see some plans posted on one display area for a set of Doctor Who mini-mates. Robin from Underground Toys shares the news with us in this ComicMix Radio exclusive. In the mini-mate line, we've got the ninth Doctor, so Christopher Eccleston, the tenth Doctor in two different formats.

One is with his blue suit and one is with his long brown coat, same as the action figures. And then we've also got Martha Cyberman, Cyber Controller and Jack Hartness. Alright, after we've managed to stop drooling, we ask the big question of when. We don't know when they're going to be out here because approval was only gotten about two days ago, the first time anyone's heard about a mini-mate. So, they should be out in about October, I'm thinking.

We don't want to give unrealistic dates, to be honest, so I think October's safe to say that they'll definitely be out by then. But we're hoping that we'll have a few, maybe one of the two facts available for Comic Con. Again, when these do hit the stores, they won't be coming from the usual Diamond Select channel, but as we know more, believe me, we'll share it right here. What's coming out this business this week? Alright, here we are, wallet in hand into the comic stores this week, and hopefully going to come out with some great stuff, and I don't think that's going to be a problem at all. Dark Horse this week puts out Conan No. 49, Grendel Beyond the Devil No. 4 in that eight-issue miniseries. There's Path of the Assassin, the ninth volume in that trade paperback run, and Rex Mundy, the Dark Horse edition, issue No. 10 this week, as well as Scream No. 4, which winds up that miniseries. There's Star Wars Dark Times No. 9, and Umbrella Academy Apocalypse Suite No. 6, last issue in that very well-received miniseries from Dark Horse.

Over to DC for Batman and the Outsiders No. 4 and Batman Confidential No. 113. We get one of the last couple of issues of Sean McKeever on Birds of Prey. This time it's No. 115. Finally, an issue of Brave and Bold, and we get No. 10 this week, and there's also Catwoman No. 76, and the Catwoman, Catwoman's dead trade paperback collection from DC. There's Checkmate No. 23, and Countdown to Final Crisis is just about ready to leave the double digits. Issue No. 10 is out this week. Death of the New Guides that Jim Starlin' run is at No. 6. It'll be eight issues when it's done.

There's Ex Machina No. 34, Flash No. 237, as well as the Flash Blood Will Run Trade Paperback New Edition this week from DC. There's also a Gen 13 Trade Paperback, the second one in their most recent incarnation. This one's called Road Trip. The collecting of the Sinestro Corps War begins this week with the first in a series of hardcovers. Again, that's Volume 1 this week from DC. Justice League of America is back. This time it's Issue No. 18. There's Loveless No. 22 and Program No. 8. That'll be a 12-issue series when it's done. We get Robin No. 171, Shadow Pack No. 22, and Spirit No. 14, as well as Superman Batman No. 46, Superman Confidential No. 12, Unman No. 7.

And the Wildstorm Revelations miniseries continues. We get No. 4 this week. It'll be six when it's all done. Wonder Girl, the miniseries, winds up from DC this week with No. 6 in that six-issue run. And we also get World of Warcraft No. 4. Grab that one quick. First three are all sold out from DC. From Devil's Dew, we get Forgotten Realms, the legacy No. 1. That's got a couple of different covers. Watch out for that. As well as Hack Slash No. 9, again with a couple of different covers from Devil's Dew.

From Dynamic Forces, there's Battlestar Galactica Origins No. 3, as well as a Boys Trade paperback, the second volume. This one's called Get Some. A lot of great reading there from Dynamic. And Red Sonja No. 30, which again has a couple of different covers, and the first issue of the new Dynamic Forces Zorro series, which again does have a couple of different covers available. Nice week this week from Image. We get Godland No. 21, another book that's getting a lot of heat out there.

A lot of folks swear by it. Hawaiian Dick hits issue No. 3 in this card run. There's the Hunter Killer Trade paperback, first volume of that, and Invincible No. 48 this week, as well as Lions, Tigers, and Bears, the trade paperback, second volume of that run. Paldini's Madame Mirage hits issue No. 5 this week from Image, as well as the Perhabenot's annual No. 1 out this week. And Witchblade No. 111, as well as the Witchblade manga issue.

Those are both out this week with a couple of different covers from Image, and they wind it down with the second issue of the revival of Youngblood. Here's what Marvel has to offer, starting out with yes, another issue of Amazing Spider-Man No. 551, continuing the brand new day story arc. There's Avengers Classic No. 9, Cable Deadpool hits issue No. 50, and we get the second issue of the new Hulk.

And by the way, that has a variant along with it as well. There's your mortal iron fist green mist death one shot this week. And Incredible Hercules hits No. 114, and there's a variant from that one as well from Marvel. We get Iron Man No. 26, as well as the Iron Man trade paperback, the many armors of Iron Man. That's out in a new printing, and you may want to grab that just in time for the movie, which is not that far away.

There's the Loner's trade paperback, Secret Lives of Super Heroes. For the all ages group, Marvel Adventures Avengers No. 21, one of our favorite books, and Marvel Adventures 2-1 No. 8. As the Marvel Illustrated series, continuing this time with Homer's Iliad, and we're up to No. 3, it'll be an eight issue run when they complete that classic story. We get Mighty Avengers No. 9, Order No. 8, as well as the first of the ordered trade paperbacks next, right thing this week.

Good chance to catch up on what is a really good series from Marvel. Runaways No. 29 is this week. Tear Inc. ends with issue No. 5 in that five issue miniseries. In the Ultimate Universe, we get Ultimate Human No. 2, which will be four issues when it's done. Ultimate X-Men No. 91, and Ultimate 3, No. 3. That'll be a five issue miniseries when it rolls out, and by the way, there's a Frank Chow variant to Ultimate 3, No. 3.

Check with your retailer on that. Also this week, we get Wolverine Origins No. 22, we get the World War Hulk After Smash Warbound No. 3. That's a five issue miniseries when it's over with as well. Couple of other independent books this week to look for, Jenna Jameson's Shadowhunter No. 1 from Virgin Comics. Finally out, as well as a book we've talked about before here in the broadcast,

Grimm's Fairy Tales No. 21 from Xenoscope, and the Grimm's Fairy Tales Return to Wonderland No. 6, and winds up a six issue miniseries, again from Xenoscope. A week before the Oscars gives us some interesting choices on the DVD rack. Michael Clayton hits the DVD market as well this week. As Denzel's American Gangster, which comes in a number of different editions, check that out.

Also this week on DVD Rendition, Lust Caution, which is in C-17, be warned about that. Redacted, Margot The Wedding, Poor Boys Game, Catacombs, the special edition, and one of the better independent movies of the past ten years. If you get a chance, grab this one. It is Run, Lola Run. From TV, there's Walker Texas Rangers Season 4, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

Now that wasn't so hard, so how about your turn? Are you ready?

Here comes another question. And it's a question to say the least. You heard us talk to Mattel about their Infinite Heroes line, and one of the coolest figures on the way is of the question. So I had to ask, who was the character who had the comic where the question first appeared?

I don't need an issue number or a date, just the name of the character who had the comic where question first appeared from Charlton Comics back in the late 1960s. That should be simple enough if you get the answer into us correctly, and in time you get yourself a Graham Crackers comic exclusive variant edition. Here's how it goes though, and the rules are pretty simple.

ComicMix Timeline February 19th 1971 This week we heard the news that there was a price change on the way for DC Comics, but it hadn't hit yet.

So 15 Cents still bought us All Star Western No. 5, Brave and Bold No. 95, and Fleshed No. 205. We also got the second issue of Jack Kirby's Forever People, Star Spangled War Stories No. 156, and Superboy No. 173 with the Super Clark Kent right there on the cover. Marvel had Captain America No. 137, Barry Smith's Incredible Conan with issue No. 5. We got the Hulk No. 139, Fear No. 4 collected some interesting monster stories,

as did Werecreature's Roam No. 6, we got Western Gunfighters No. 5, and Sub-America No. 37, too, from Marvel. Couple of issues came along from Skywalled this week as well. We got Blazing Six Guns No. 2, and Nightmare No. 3 with a really nice Boris Vallejo painted cover. 1971

In the news, President Nixon said he plans to bring Americans their first full generation of peace in this century. A Soviet diplomat's car was set on fire just outside Washington, D.C. and two other cars with diplomatic tags were also vandalized. And scientists had their first chance to examine moon rocks gathered during NASA's second trip to the lunar surface. In the movies, there was if it's Tuesday, It Must Be Belgium, Love Story was still there, as well as How the West Was Won,

and Barbra Streisand was a little risque in the owl and the pussycat. TV Tonight had episodes of Truth or Consequences, Nanny, Love American Style, and NBC's High Concept Western, The High Chaparral. 1971 After the breakup of The Beatles last year, each individual member released their own solo album. In George Harrison's case, he'd stockpiled a lot of songs during the last few years of the group, and that became All Things Must Pass,

the first triple album by a single rock artist in history. All Things Must Pass went right to the top of the charts and produced a couple of massive hit songs, including What Is Life? But tell me why is my life that's not enough? Tell me who am I without you? My life.
