The CW’s Reaper gained a lot of fan press when last season’s pilot was directed by Kevin Smith. Now, after a bout with the Writer’s Strike, the show is on its way back for Season Two and we get the inside story from Satan himself, series regular Ray Wise, plus:

Hi, it's Mike Raub. If you enjoyed Reaper on CW last year and wonder what the heck happened to it, well we got some good news right from the mouth of Satan himself. That is on the way on November 6th. 2008 ComicMix U While opinions seem to be varied on just how good this year's Halloween Simpsons episode was, it is getting some attention from one particular group and not in a good way. A gay rights organization is demanding an apology from one of the characters for uttering a homophobic slur on the show.
Now some months, the bully on Simpsons set off a whole big problem on Sunday night by insulting Millhouse by saying, that's so gay. The group is demanding an apology, it's not necessarily clear whether it's on air or off air they want this. By the way, they probably should drop by the lunchroom of about any junior high or senior high in America. They'd have a whole lot of people to demand apologies from. Ha ha!
Meanwhile, Fox is moving on with the fifth season of American Dad, Mike Bender and Mark Weitzman, have made now separate overall deals with 20th Century Fox, allowing both of them to do other independent projects besides working with each other. Production for season 4 of American Dad winds up soon, scripts for season 5 are in the works. And Fox is going to launch 24 over two nights with four total hours in January on the 11th and the 12th. And then the drama settles into its regular time slot every Monday starting at 9pm on the 19th.
Although there's no real world on what's going to take the hour before 24, that's the 8 o'clock slot. There's been talk about the John Sweden dollhouse series going in there, but again, still some trouble surrounding that. And of course, by the way, 24 premieres with a special two hour movie just a few weeks from now just before Thanksgiving on Fox. Not necessarily superheroes, but I do see a comic book in the future of this one. G4 has introduced viewers to the oddly destructive brothers Craig and Paul Pumphrey.
It's a new series they're running called Human Wrecking Balls that begins in a few days at 10.30pm Eastern Time on November the 12th on the network. The duo combines their physical strength as well as science and grit to destroy everything in their path from a car to a boat to an airplane, all with their bare hands. And the guys, by the way, weigh a total of 550 pounds. The new series premieres on Wednesday, the 12th at 10.30 Eastern Time on G4. Still a lot of problems surrounding the Tin Tin movie. Right now, it looks like Sony and Paramount are going to get together to provide the financing for the project, which still has attached to it.
Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson. The plan here for the movie, which is the first of a series to be in 3D motion capture and CG as well. And Spielberg and Jackson will each direct a movie in the series. Now Tin Tin was originally dropped from the Universal lineup, but back in September, that studio said the project was way too risky. The film, by the way, the first one, which will be Spielberg's tune, has already had some things shot, at least that's according to some people from the Spielberg organization, and their hopeful release in 2010 providing financing comes along. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, the guy behind the upcoming Brave and Bold series at DC, Thor and a lot more, not the smallest of which is the Clint Eastwood movie, Changeling. Jay Michael Srosinski is now working on a screenplay remake of the 50s classic science fiction movie, Forbidden Planet.
It's set to come from Warner Brothers. Joel Silver is producing No Other News at this time. Hi, my name is Gigi Edgley. I play piano and music. You look happy. Oh, I am. Halloween is over. My demons are back in hell, torturing the dam. All is right with the underworld. Last season, when Reber debuted on the CW network, it got some attention from our world, at least in part because Kevin Smith directed the pilot and then signed on as a creative consultant for the series.
Reber was on the CW for a full season last year, but it has been fortunately buried amongst, well, everything else that was on the CW and didn't get the attention that maybe it deserved. And then there was that writer strike that split the season in half with 13 episodes before the strike and five episodes after. Series regular Ray Wise explains that while they didn't have an effect on the story, the strike did have other ramifications on Reber. Well, I know it didn't affect the story. It just affected the logistics, I guess, of when we would come back and start shooting. And I think that the network, the CW, had some choices to make, I suppose, as a result of the writer's strike.
I think that our coming back for a second season was a little bit in doubt for a while, but that worked out fine. We're now on the ninth episode of a 13 episode pickup. Yes, it's official. Reber's coming back. In fact, it was renewed for a second season as long ago as last May, but nobody seemed to remember that. And now it's going to turn up on the CW schedule in the very near future. We're going to air those new episodes, those 13 new episodes, either in next January or next March.
And we think that once those are on the air that we might be able to do some more. Now, if you haven't watched the show yet, and by the way, you should, Ray Wise plays the ultimate bad guy. Yeah, he's Satan the devil. While you pick the name, you want to go along with it. Same guy. Now, for someone like Ray, who's made a career out of playing excellent bad guys, like Leland Palmer in Twin Peaks and Hal Gardner on 24, on the approach being the ultimate bad guy. You know, I've seen all the great I've seen all the devil's small, the movies from Walter Houston to Ray Wollston, even Jack Nicholson and Al Pacino.
And I've enjoyed many aspects of their devils immensely. But mine, you know, I just I wanted him to be a little different. I wanted him to be, you know, like a combination between a really good used car salesman and a game show host. There's a lot more with Ray coming up on ComicMix dot com. ComicMix timeline. November 6th. 1983. A brand new comic store in my neighborhood this week. Racked up a whole bunch of DC's. There was Amethyst number 10. Black Hawk was back this time logging in issue number 267.
There was Justice League number 223, the new Vigilante series from DC hit issue three. There was Wonder Woman 312, Batman 368 and Flesh number 330. John Burns classic Alpha flight hit with issue number six this week. There was Dazzler number 30. Jim Starlin on Dreadstar number eight. Falcon, Captain America's buddy, had a miniseries at number three. John Byrne again on Fantastic Four, this time issue 362.
We found out what was on the way for Marvel in Marvel Age number 10. Got the thing number seven in the first issue of the X-Men Micronauts miniseries. 1983. In the news, PLO chairman Yasser Arafat fought off a Syrian attack that left 240 dead and over 500 wounded. Eyes of the world were watching the US naval ships forming near Lebanon.
And in a pre-Veterans Day celebration, President Reagan took special note of the contributions from US servicemen and women. In the movies, there was Deal of the Century, Bond was back and so was Sean and Never Say Never Again. Tom Cruise in All the Right Moves, there was the original Dead Zone, All the Right Stuff. Osterman Weekend and Educating Rita as well on the big screen. TV Tonight had episodes of Good Night Being Town, The Jeffersons, Barney Miller.
The CBS presentation of Judith Grant's Princess Daisy. But right before that on CBS. This is it, this is it, this is life, who are you, yeah, who's the boy and how the boy. This is it, this is it, straight ahead, the rest is sure, you can't be sure at all. Here was almost the end of a run for a long time CBS classic, One Day at a Time.
On the radio, a band that burst on the scene from Berkeley, California in the early 1980s and certainly had a lot of help from MTV. 1983. Those distinct videos featured front lady Martha Davis dressed in black and singing for the motels here suddenly last summer. It takes all my will and then suddenly last summer. ComicMix.
