Broadcast 284. ComicMix.com. Another one of those undiscovered gems coming out. ComicMix Radio. Hi, it's Mike Raub, and on the way we get to do what we love to do, and that is introduce you to a brand new comic and comic company we think you're going to like.
The details about this new energetic, fun title just around the corner on November 8th. 2008 ComicMix U. Starcourse Comics is stepping in to create new Terminator comics, all for release in 2009. It's all part of the Silver Anniversary or the debut of the original Terminator film, which came on the screen in 1984. Of course, there's also that new Terminator movie set to debut on May 22nd of next year.
In addition to a new series, Dark Horse also plans to reissue their two omnibus editions, collecting the previous Terminator comics as well. There's no word about how this will affect the Terminator series already planned and being published by Dynamic Forces. Fancast.com has launched a new weekly blog called Ask Judah featuring 30 Rock co-star Judah Freelander. He answers questions from users about any and all topics. His blogs run on Thursdays and Fridays to promote both the online viewing of 30 Rock and of course the network viewing as well every Thursday on NBC.
Universal Pictures new animated movie, Tales of the Despero, will now be a new collectible card game. Coming in December from Upper Deck, the movie hits theaters on December 19th and is based on K. D. Camillo's book, Tale of the Despero. The cards will be available in stores on November 18th. It will be a base set, including 50 cards, each of which is also a sticker card, six autographed cards and 20 character cards as well in the set. Sci-Fi Channel is moving ahead on production for Game Quest. It's a reality competition series. To find out who is the ultimate gamer in the US, scheduled to sometime premiere in the first part of next year with eight episodes, the series will have 12 contestants playing top game titles and maneuvering through elimination challenges in front of hundreds of audience members.
Final winner gets a prize package consisting of $100,000 and trips to the upcoming World Cyber Game event. Right around this time of year, networks begin to cancel the new TV season series that are cluttering up the airwaves, getting rid of the deadwood so to speak. But here's something new. ABC has canceled the mid-season series Single with Parents. It's a new comedy that was allegedly going to star Alyssa Milano. There have been all sorts of problems involving creative direction with the show, so they decided just to can it all together before it ever premieres. Most mid-season replacements begin after the Christmas holiday hiatus sometime in early January.
If you're planning on heading to the New York Comic Con in February, hate lines and hate to have to wait for anything, there's now a new special access ticket called VIP Package that will allow you not only a chance to not have to wait in line, but also to go to a very special private place where you can unwind when you need a break from the convention. The VIP access ticket gives you early access, a dedicated entrance to the show floor, a special lounge just for VIPs, discounts on exclusives, and even some free gifts as well. These tickets are limited. They do sell out. It's suggested that you head to NewYorkComicon.com soon if you want to grab one. If you like to design t-shirts, this could be for you. The results are in and it looks like Obama has won, at least as far as IDW goes. The Barack Obama biography comic beat the very same of John McCain in the comic bookstores, at least according to pre-orders. Final score came to 59% for Obama, 41% for McCain.
Those sales are based on the ones ordered by retailers, not necessarily the ones purchased by comic book consumers. Hi everybody, this is your cousin Bruce here. You know what you're listening to right now? Comic fix. If you've been around ComicMix Radio very much, you know that we love to bring you brand new comics and brand new comics companies that sometimes fall off the grid and are a little difficult to find. But once you do find them, there's great things to enjoy there. We're talking now about Mask and Cave Comics. They come out of one of my old stomping grounds, Cleveland, Ohio.
And the guy in charge of the brand new company is Mark Milner, who's more than happy to lay out the plans. Well, it's a new superhero universe that we're coming up with. Our first book, Colin and Eddie Monster Hunters, is about a little kid and a teddy bear. And he discovers that he can use toys as weapons. So when he picks up a ray gun, it's a ray gun. Yo-Yo has a recoil action, and so on and so on. And he finds out his teddy bear comes to life. And it's all about his growing into this and finding out why he has these superpowers and where the bear comes from and so on. And then we also have Mask and Cave Double Feature, which is a split book. And half is about American Knight, which is a patriotic, non-powered superhero.
And the other half is Mask and Cave, which is a magic, meat, science sort of investigative end of the paranormal theme. Mask and Cave is starting small. Just the two first issues, Colin and Eddie number one and Mask and Cave Double Feature number one. Here's one of the more interesting things, the way to get Mask and Cave comics. And believe me, it's not the usual path through your local comic store or even through Diamond. Are you ready to hit eBay?
You can get it. It's available on eBay right now through our Mask and Cave comic store. Or you can go to coming, I want to say in about December or January, our new website will be up. And that will have a store on the actual site. Our current website at www.MaskandCaveComics.com does not have the store on it right now. And our new version will when it comes in the second part of this year. ComicMix Radio. ComicMix timeline. November 8th, 1975.
