Broadcast 289 CometMix.com She ought to be in pictures and she is CometMix Radio Hi, it's Mike Rod and you know everybody's got a movie in them at least once in their life

and here's somebody who took that movie and got it to the big screen You'll meet her and find out how she made her dreams come true and maybe you can do the same and the whole story is coming up on November 20th, 2008 CometMix News

The Marvel Machine keeps rolling along with now a new Thor animated series set to premiere in the fall of 2010 and it will be a few months after the release of the live action Thor film planned for the summer of that year The Thor movie of course is being distributed by Paramount

Marvel Animation meanwhile plans to produce an animated series for every one of the Marvel Studios live action movies That includes of course the animated series The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes that begins in 2011 right after the Captain America and Avengers movie appear on the big screen

Meanwhile Josh Schwartz, the guy behind Gossip Girl and the OC is writing X-Men First Class It's a new feature film from Fox that features the younger characters and the students at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning all the ones you saw in the background of the earlier X-Men features

Of course no casting or release dates have been announced for that feature Meanwhile Fox has X-Men Origins Wolverine coming next May They're also working on a Magneto movie as well and a Deadpool movie feature Meanwhile Christopher Marcus and Steven McFeely who wrote the Chronicles of Narnia films have also been tapped to write the Captain America live action film

That's the one where Joe Johnson has been signed as director and again is planned for 2011 Get used to hearing a lot about Twilight over the next couple of days It should make some kind of noise in the movie theaters over the weekend Meanwhile the movie studio has acquired the rights to the next three books in this series

According to The Hollywood Reporter Melissa Rosenberg will be writing the screenplays for New Moon and Eclipse, that's books two and three There's been no writer yet hired to do Breaking Dawn which is the final book in the series Book four And it's a long wait until July 17th until Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens

But if you go see Twilight this weekend you'll be treated to a brand new Harry Potter trailer to be released attached to that film over the next few days More names and special events being added to the list for the New York Comic Con coming in February Right now you'll be able to see Geoff Johns and Jim Lee both at the show He'll also be doing a very special DC online presentation coming up on Saturday the 7th at the New York Comic Con

I know I've said it once or twice and I bet you have too We'd all love to make our own movie Well here's somebody who actually took the steps to do it She spent some time in the background of shows like Will and Grace as a bit player in the cast But turned her lifelong love of film into a big screen production called Dark Sound

It's making the rounds now but how did it begin? Writer, director, filmmaker Yasmin Zeb tells us how it all got started Okay well pretty much I came from a film industry background My mother is a singer and an actress So it came only natural to me at a young age

I started modeling acting and doing various stage performances from that five or six And took me through my teen years I kind of took a break from it Gathered my thoughts and then came back full force As an adult, went to film school and continued acting here in New York City

And also on the west coast of Los Angeles And it was only a matter of time before I stepped behind the camera And I absolutely fell in love with it Which brings us to the movie itself Well the title is Dark Sound

It is a thriller horror film set in New England Particularly in Norwalk And a little bit about it is there is this man This recluse who lives on an island He supposedly says something horrible to his fiancée

And he never actually gets pinned to it But instead he just escapes to this island setting This couple comes across on a boat one day Of course it being Halloween And disturbs his piece

And he sets for the shore and speaks out revenge upon them Now filming a full blown big screen feature is not an easy or an inexpensive task So why do it? Well in my particular case I have a story to tell And I love the idea that I have a muse to convey it on to film

My husband is an editor and a writer So I kind of married my partner in crime And we have been making films out in Los Angeles And we moved back to the East Coast about two years ago And within a few weeks we started to get itchy

And here we are we are making films again Yasmine also stars in the film Playing a heroine who really isn't typical of most of those you see In standard horror films And she planned it that way

Well it was When I took this project I wrote it about a year and a half ago And I decided to direct it I wanted to come from a female point of view Because if you look back to all the history of the horror films and thriller genres

It's always the woman coming from a victim point of view Well what if the woman fights back What if the woman saves the man What if she is the heroine at the end of the film And my great influences are from the older school of Hitchcock and of course A.B.

And I really I don't think you need to be graphic to have it be a thriller and horror I like the old fashioned scares Sometimes it's more scary to not see something rather than have it blatantly in your face Dark Sound has had some successful screenings so far But what's the next step?

Well as always it's never done So we're going back into the studio if you will to tweak it some more To fix some editing Whatever little issues we saw once we were on the big screen We're going back in, we're re-loosing some scenes

We might shoot some additional little exterior scenes And from there we head off to distributors and film festivals And hopefully this time next year it'll be somewhere on the shelf And what's the next step for Yasmey? Well I have directed other short films before that were comedies

We did a feature length musical as well So I'm all over the board as far as this goes I really do like thrillers I'm always partial to horror, I personally love horror films But my husband John Paisano has been offered a deal for a book by Gord Rolo called Jigsaw Man

In the fledgling comic stores this week we got Jonah Hex number 89 from DC There was Detective Comics number 547 A couple of DC series that have almost been forgotten Remember Spanner's Galaxy, well that came in at number 3 And how about Sun Devils?

It made it all the way to issue 8 this week Another great miniseries was America vs. the Justice Society That hit issue number 2 And we got Action Comics number 564 Marvel had a few miniseries cooking as well this week

Including Beauty and the Beast number 2 We also got Avengers number 252 Rom number 63 Call the Cocker number 4 The Things series hit issue number 20

We got Iron Man number 121 And speaking of this great miniseries Secret Wars, the very first one Hit issue number 10 this week from Marvel 1984

In the news, the death toll rose in a natural gas explosion in Mexico Two bombs went off destroying an abortion clinic and a family planning center in Washington And Dwight Gooden was named Rookie of the Year by the National Baseball League In the movies there was no small affair, the very first Terminator Just the way you are, sadly there was Supergirl on the big screen

George Burns wound it up in Oh God You Devil and there was Amadeus Alright, so that song wasn't in the movie I always thought it should have been, right? TV Tonight had episodes of The A-Team 3's A Crowd, which was where 3's company ended up after a few years

There was a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special tonight Episodes of Who's the Boss, Paper Dolls, and Remington Steel 1984 On the radio, a couple of guys began their music career And actually hit the charts a few times in the 1970's

However, at the turn of the decade, they began to own those very same charts Selling some 80 million records during the early 1980's They took a little break though to go back in the studio to find a new sound They found out with the very first modern computerized synthesizer workstation Called the Synclavor 2

They used it for a new album called Big Bang Boom And right out of the box, the very first single, which had that in the background Took them right to the top Here's Outta Touch and Hall & Oates ComicMix
