Namor would never put up with this
Aquaman meets BP.
Hat tip: Oliver Willis.
You know something’s become a cultural phenomenon when it’s used as a springboard for humor pieces, on the assumption that viewers and readers will "get it" because the source material has become firmly embedded in our collective consciousness. So it was with great amusement that I read Dr. PZ Myers’ take on 300 wherein he…

James Spader is a master at creating riveting and intense characters. There is no better proof than on his new NBC series, THE BLACKLIST. James talks about why he came back to TV, how he gets into a role and the reason why he wanted to be in the next AVENGERS film. Plus SHIELD takes…
Man, this is getting vicious. First, Emily Blunt was announced as being cast as super-spy Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, in Iron Man 2. Then Eliza Dushku announced that she was interested in the part. Now we’re hearing rumors that Scarlett Johansson is in discussions for the role, according to Entertainment Weekly by way of…

I’ve had a horrible week-and frankly did not think anything could get me to give a f**K but this image is just so right on, I had to.
THIS is the single best image I’ve seen to represent this disaster.
I may be naive here… but why don’t they have other boats with hoses and empty hulls start taking away the oil?!?
This is exactly what I was thinking!
Because there was no way to collect it.
This is amusing. My friend said last week that what BP really needed to do was hire Aquaman to find a solution, and I countered that he’d probably end up covered in oil and dead.

It’d been nice if you or your “source” had actually credited where the image originated: http://www.aquamanshrine.com/2010/06/aquaman-shrine-goes-…
Christopher, give Glenn a few hours. The Aquaman Shrine gave credit to Nick Cardy for creating the original art in this image. And it only took them 11 days to do that. 😉 My guess is it will take less time for Glenn to give http://www.aquamanshrine.com credit for their contribution to this collage. Thanks for pointing out where this meme originated.

Russ-
The reason it took me (aka The Aquaman Shrine) 11 days to give Nick Cardy credit is because when I originally posted the doctored cover, I had no idea it would go viral–it was just a thing for the Shrine’s readers, most if not all of whom already knew who drew the cover.
It wasn’t until I saw that it was bouncing all over the internet–sometimes unknowingly crediting me for the artwork–that I felt the need to do that follow-up post to clue in anyone who was visiting the Shrine for the first time, which was a lot of people in the wake of it going viral.
