Hello, it's Mike Raub. Welcome to The Point where all parts of pop culture come together. She's the one, the only, the original Bionic Woman. Lindsay Wagner headed back to fantasy television and Bambarella's back again. It's Friday, August 13, 2010. Let's get to the point right now. In the 70s, she was sci-fi sweetheart Jamie Summers, the Bionic Woman. And now actress
Lindsay Wagner is returning to TV in what could be a recurring role on Warehouse 13. So what got her back in action? I just called my agent that I'd be interested and willing to play it. And quite honestly, I've been so busy, I do workshops and retreats all over the world now. And so I had never even seen the show. So I watched it really quick on the web. And the visuals, the way
it's shot and the chemistry of the actors just really impressed me. It's really fun. And in its own way, very current and very today, but it has, it's felt a lot to me like the Bionic Woman in that it's got exciting and kind of sensationalistic parts to it. But it's not so gory and violent. And it's not something that I would not want my kids to watch.
Lindsay's character on Warehouse 13 is very closely connected to her real life. The writer had gone on to my website for my workshop, Lindsay Wagner international.com had gone to my website and looked at the kind of work that I was doing. And he pulled from one of the techniques that I teach. He pulled that and put that into Dr. Calder's treatment on her first appearance and then allowed me to elaborate on it to kind of get
it more specific and correct as far as how to do it. It's very subtle, you know what we're doing. It's just part of what I do when I'm talking to the character and treating them. But it was really impressive to me that they took time and effort to want to put something new into it and something that was really directly related to the work that I'm doing. That was really impressive.
Trained a biotic woman secured Lindsay a place in TV history and now she embraces that. Not at all. Not at all. You know, I know some actors feel that way, but for me, we put so much of our heart and soul into that and trying to make it something meaningful that to me it just says it worked. It doesn't say to me that I'm stuck in that image because I went on to do 40 television movies and series and features and miniseries, all kinds of
things, playing all kinds of different characters. So it was never a hindrance for me. And that series, that experience, that character, it was so much learning for me about the industry, about how to work with story and how to put things in it, which then gave me the experience to be able to do it with the television movies that I did, which were so many of them were that I chose or developed to talk about human issues that I wanted to talk about through
story. I was well prepared to do it. And I consider that whole thing to have been a gift to my life. So beyond some episodes this season, will she be back next year on warehouse 13? There have been no real long term conversations, but I have done a second episode now that'll be on towards the end of the season. They said, well, we'll see you later when I left. Lost, the official show auction and exhibit, takes place in person in Southern California. If you're in the Santa Monica area next weekend, August 21st and 22nd, it's in partnership with ABC studios and profiles in history. There'll be a live and for those of you not in California, an online auction featuring some of
those also familiar props, wardrobe and set decoration of the show. Along with the auction, ABC is offering fans an opportunity to immerse themselves in all things Lost. Large set pieces from the show will be on display again if you're there in person, including a Dharma van and pieces of the plane wreckage from Oceania flight number 815. Right now, Hollywood reporter has reported that Todd Phillips from the hangover and the guy who wrote the pursuit of happiness, Stephen Conrad, have acquired the rights to develop a Belushi biopic for Warner Brothers. It's also a strong talk today that Zach Galifianakis might be in the running for the lead in that movie. Not much else on that
was so far except the fact that it will be definitely different from the biopic done a few years ago, Wired, the short life and fast times of John Belushi written by Bob Woodward. When they started reprinting classic Vampirala material we kind of knew that dynamite entertainment would more than likely be doing a new series that's now on the books and the creators are known as well. Eric Taubman from Action Comics is going to be the writer. Wagner Reese will do the art
on the first issue of the new Vampiralo from Dynamic Forces which will be shipping into comic stores in November. It's been a long road coming but tickets are finally going on sale now for the long-awaited Spider-Man musical Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark. The troubled production had most recently been expected to go into previews back in September. Now it looks like the lights on Broadway will actually go on on November the 14th with the opening scheduled for December 13th.
It's got a huge budget 40 to 50 million dollars features music by Youtus Bono and the Edge and actor Reeve Carney plays the role of Spider-Man. It's another one of those great fan projects that we just can't wait to share. What if the Avengers came along as a movie well before there was actually a Marvel comic? Forget the facts and figures grab your imagination and watch a trailer featuring the Avengers as they would have been say in oh 1956 or so. It's a great project that's hit

They'll be doing regular Inspector Gadget material as well as new material based on another cartoon character Johnny Test releasing both of them in 2011. Both
are done in graphic novel form of course Inspector Gadget features all the usual suspects including Brain Penny and Dr. Claw. Johnny Test a little newer project but again one that should be familiar to at least some readers and both will have a chance to experience them from Viper as we said in graphic novel form in comic stores in 2011. Xenoscope has announced that the first issue of the Charmed adaptation has sold out. 17,000 copies blew out of comic stores in just under three weeks.
Xenoscope is now planning a second printing to put the book back into comic stores so the people can be prepared to follow the regular adventures of the adaptation of the popular American TV show that ran from 1998 through 2006 on the WB. To get a copy of the second printing check with your retailer in about three weeks from now issue two of Charmed will also be in comic stores. Okay it's a moot point that he never really drew but it's still kind of interesting Stan Lee's
How to Draw Comics will be released in November as a 24.99 trade paperback intending to be the co-creator of the Marvel Universe's guide to creating your own heroes and buffing up the ones you may already have back in the back of your drawer. It starts with a recounting of the last 80 years of Lee's career talking about how he became Marvel Comics head guy and pretty much learned every aspect of the business so if anybody has a right to tell us how to draw maybe it is
Stan. Again this will be in comic stores available in the later part of the year more than likely just before Christmas. Stan Lee's How to Draw Comics retailing for just under $25. This is my gold. Remember when cable tv was the bastard son of network broadcasting? Well here's further evidence that the tale's now wagging the dog. According to published accounts NBC has dropped commentator and longtime sportscaster Keith Olbermann from its highly profitable show
Football Night in America. Did they take the step because Olbermann is a controversial voice of the left? Did they do this because he's at the very top of Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and Bill O'Reilly's shitlists? Nope that's not why they did it. NBC dropped Olbermann because it took him away from his MSNBC gig Countdown during football season which by the way already started. Olbermann had to miss some Friday night shows on the cable
network. They specifically stated this action had nothing to do with Olbermann's politics. That's probably true. Right-winger Dennis Miller didn't last long doing football on Disney's ABC network. The time has come when a major media conglomerate will risk the profitability of a prime-time network show in order to protect its position on the cable menus. The times they are a-changin'.
