the point. Hello, it's Mike Robin. Welcome to the point where all parts of pop culture come together. I am missing walking dead yet. Well if you
are, we've got a few sneak peaks where things are going over the summer and when we can expect new episodes. Andrew Lincoln's here to tell
us everything we need to know. In the meantime, wait till you find out who's going to be here. This is the point. The point radio get the point.
It was just a little over a year ago that we started hearing the buzz on the AMC adaptation of the comic, The Walking Dead and then the
premiere in October with a huge rating success and a ton of critical acclaim as well. So who saw that coming? Certainly not series star Andrew Lincoln.
I was chatting to Frank last night. We had dinner together and it's the first time because we've been doing the incredible press tours and I've been
zipping around promoting across the world because it's been sold to 150 odd countries as well. It was the first time that we kind of looked at each
other and went, this is beyond our wildest dreams. I mean, it really is. We could not have wished for such incredible numbers, loyalty and also
critical acclaim. So yeah, we had no clue. I mean, don't get me wrong. When we were filming it, particularly within two weeks, I think Frank Kett
sidled over to me when we were filming the sequence and when I wake up in the hospital and we had done two weeks filming already and he came over and he
said, I think we've got something special here. And for Frank to say that, it's obviously, he's a vastly experienced and talented guy,
but you can never guarantee a reaction. Another thing nobody expected was the long wait between the six episodes of The Walking Dead last fall and the
next time we get back to the characters, which won't be until October of this year. So how are fans supposed to deal with that? Well, with that, that's why
we've got the beautiful Blu-ray and DVD, you know, people can get back and relive and also explore the ins and outs of the show and the making of the show
in this incredibly comprehensive DVD extras footage. But yeah, I mean, it was one of two things that they could have just done the pilot episode, AMC, just
commissioned that and then we would have had to wait and maybe not have had the same momentum of having six. But I think that AMC were pretty shrewd by just
realizing that Frank, Gail and the team behind it were so vastly experienced and the right people for the job that they just said, go for it. There's six and
let's explore character and really give a chance for the show to breathe first. So, you know, and of course, it's a shame that there's such a gap, but, you
know, hopefully the anticipation will be even greater. There's plenty of story out there with The Walking Dead comic already having over 80 issues in stores.
So how does all that material play out and what's going to be happening in the series? Well, I think, you know, this is why we've got lots of great writers
in a room at the moment talking because it's about taking obviously the best bits of the greatest, most iconic moments from the graphic novel and the
most iconic characters and then throwing in a few surprises along the way. And of course, we want to honor, as you know, anyone who's a fan of the comic book
series will know that we've honored their comic book first because obviously Robert's on board, but yeah, we want to push deep and widen and sort of
stretch it a little bit in places so people get a few surprises along the way. There's no doubt everybody wants to know what's going to happen next on
the show. And we had to ask Andrew that question. It is so top secret. And also, I think, yeah, it's going to be really interesting filming this time
around as well because everybody wants to know what's going to happen. And even with the scripts, they will only come through at the last minute, I
think, and it will just be for the sake of the show and not spoiling it. I think for the fans, we're going to try and keep it under wraps for as long
as possible. Season one of The Walking Dead and a beautiful new Blu-ray package available right now on DVD shelves. And season two
premieres on AMC coming up in the fall. The flight radio. It's Friday, March 4th, 2011. Here's what's going on in pop
culture. What looks like Lex Luther's found work, Michael Rosenbaum, will appear in all seven episodes of a new Fox midseason comedy called
Breaking In. It also stars Christian Slater. Michael was only supposed to be in the pilot, but producers liked him so much they've extended him
through the entire first season. Breaking In premieres on April the 6th. And of course, Michael returns as Lex Luther for the two hour Smallville finale coming
up on May 13th. Well, if you felt a little old because Sally Field was playing Aunt May in the Spider-Man reboot, the Superman reboot has
done them one better by getting Diane Lane to play Martha Kent in the new Zack Snyder Superman film. Warner Brothers made the
announcement that Lane had been added. We remember her best from things like Streets of Fire where she was nowhere near the decades of Martha Kent.
The Superman reboot set to hit theaters in 2012. It's kind of a combination of April Fool's Day and, well, a PBS telethon as well.
It's called Red Nose Day in England and it comes up on the 18th of March all through the auspices of comic relief. So why are we interested?
Well, this year there'll be two special Doctor Who episodes involved. Not really episodes. I guess many episodes is a better word. They're each about four
minutes in length, but they are complete stories done by Stephen Moffat featuring the Doctor, Amy and the usual cast from the regular series.
They're not necessarily spoops, but they are funny and they do fit into Doctor Who continuity according to Moffat. The stuff will air in England on
the 18th and more than likely you'll be heading to the Internet that very same day. Marvel has announced a new eight-a-part series.
It ties into their massive Fear Itself project and it's going to be released digitally. Fear Itself, the worthy, is a weekly digital exclusive to allow
you to discover some of the secrets behind the big comic crossover event. It'll be available for the iPhone, the iPad and the
Itouch and free for a limited time with the Marvel Comics app there. Get more information with the Marvel Comics website. It should be available very
soon. I know nothing. Nothing. This is Mike Gold. One of the most significant
influences in our music history died earlier this week and chances are you've never heard of her. Yes and how many times must a
man look up before he can see the sky? Artist and author Susie Rotolo dated Bob Dylan for four years in the 1960s.
She turned him on to modern art, poetry, avant-garde theater and left-wing politics. In other words, she invented the classic Bob Dylan.
Of course Bob had an additional perspective. In his 2004 autobiography, he said Susie was, quote, the most erotic thing I'd ever
seen, end quote. Well I'm a walking down a road with my head in my hand. I'm looking for a woman needs a word in her hand.
It's just a one-kind favor I'll ask you. Love me just a one more chance. I'm a walking down a road with my head in my hand.
