Reminder: Cosplay ≠ Consent

From Karine.
It’s been a frustrating week for those of us with Bloglines, as new ComicMix items haven’t shown up since last Tuesday. Our news and comic alert feeds are two of the 50+ subscriptions not being updated on my reader at present. While this may make getting through unread blogs easier, it also necessitates lots…
Holy cryin’ commie vomit! The old chrome dome is writing another column? Didn’t he just send one off yesterday? Matter of fact he…that is, I did. But I’ll be out of town for a while and I’d better get this in before I subject myself to the activity that I’ve done most often of all…
It’s been four weeks since the rollout of ComicMix: Phase II. You’ve seen the first four installments of GrimJack, EZ Street, Black Ice, Munden’s Bar, Simone & Ajax, and Fishhead. You’ve used our comic reader, you’ve listened to the podcasts, you’ve played with the site, and we’ve still had the same great columnists. In that…
Via BoingBoing, we learn of a certain guy named Jim. He lives in Tempe, AZ. He drives a Nissan. And he is a crime-fighting hero. Several nights a week, he patrols the streets of his town as Citizen Prime. He wears a leather mask, a silk cape, and a steel-plated body shield on his upper…
…along with Wonder Woman, the Terminator directing traffic, Cobra Commander giving free hugs, the no-so-White Queen, and the cutest little Dalek ever. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Being a (silently) drooling adolescent dork … is to be expected from a certain percentage of the crowd.
And, i have to say, if you dress up in a costume that was designed as fan-service for adolescent (chronologically or otherwise) fanbois, you’ve bought yourself some of that drooling hormone-infused adoration…
@Mike Weber: Could you PLEASE dump that whole “She *deserved* to be harassed/assaulted/raped because she wore sexy clothes” attitude back in the 1950s where it belongs? The entire POINT of the “Cosplay =/= consent” movement is that women ARE allowed to dress up, and it does NOT give the “hormone-infused” fanboys justification for acting like jerks. Boys, if you can’t go out in public and see women in “sexy” clothing without “drooling” and being a “dork”, F*CKING GROW UP ALREADY AND LEARN DECENT, RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOUR or stay home. I know developmentally-disabled/autistic fans who’ve managed to learn to interact with the opposite sex without being a$$holes; if they can do it, what’s YOUR excuse?
