The Point Radio Hey, it's Mike Raub. Well, Revolution is back for a second season, and if you don't know of yet, there's been some changes. We talked to the cast and some of the new creators about where things are going there. Plus, a big month for DC and the comic shops, not a bad month for Walking Dead either. And of course, Thor Hammer's home big time box office. Let's

get to The Point. This is The Point, The Point Radio, get The Point Radio. Revolution is evolving, and that's a message to the cast and creators of the drama. What viewers who haven't been watching to know. And no one is more excited about the changes in series star Tracy Spirodokos.

I'm excited about it all. It's fun. It's loads of fun. They have some amazing ideas as far. I'm thrilled for you guys to get to see what they're doing. It's just got, we've got a very, it's a different feel this year. You know, it's still the same show that we've been creating, obviously, but it's just, it's just a bit dirtier and grittier. And I'm having a blast doing it for sure.

That enthusiasm isn't just for the show, but for her character, Charlie as well. I'm excited to just, to see what's going to happen, to see where she grows. I mean, I feel, I've had so much fun last year taking her from, you know, this, this vulnerable kind of innocent girl who makes a lot of bad decisions, you know, but learns from them all and really grows into being this warrior and then now goes into this soul searching journey, gains

her independence. She has nobody to bail her out. She's, she's on her own completely. So she has to use her fighting skills that she learned from Myles. She has to use her wits, all of her experience, everything. It's just her. But she's not afraid anymore. She's been through so much. There's not a whole lot that you can really do to her anymore. And so there's, you know, that's a really, that's been really cool and fun for me to dip into. And I love

stunt days and every day that I get to do things like that. Over the course of a year, Charlie has had to grow up fast, maybe two things. That's part of the thing where it's, it's, you know, she struggles with that. That's part of her, she, her moral compass is a bit off. And that's what's really fun to toy with. You know, back when, when, when we first started, the choices that she would have made then to the choices she made now are very different.

And so, you know, it's great. It's been, it's been loads of fun to, to actually have an opportunity to have a character that's so rich to be able to play all those things. And I love what Eric and the whole team is creating for us. And, but you know, for me specifically, I'm, I'm, I'm having a really good time. I probably more than I should be allowed to have. Miles, played by actor Billy Burke, is a character that Tracy's Charlie is most drawn to. And that's

happening more and more. Yeah, way more. Miles is, Miles is for one good thing left. And I love that relationship development also, you know, they went from, from such a, you know, funny place where she was running in his heels, you know, and then now they're just, you know, you can see how much they love and care about each other. They, they, you know, rely on each other. And there's a scene where we say goodbye to when she leaves to go on her own journey. And that's tough. It's tough

to say goodbye to him. You know, he's, you know, they adore each other. So I think it's a really cool, cool growth to watch that happen. Tracy introduced me to one of the big new changes in the season. And that is the addition of Rockne S. O'Bannon, a guy who has a great television resume that includes creating things like Farscape and Alienation. Look, I was a fan of the show last year. So I've been kind of in the position of like, have you been a fan? I get to like, participate in the show.

But no, that's one of the things I thought was so cool. You know, shows like this, you, you know, you have the big question, will they ever get the power back on? And they just went for it. I mean, they put the power back on for sure. And it was an arduous season long effort. But it wasn't like, oh, you know, how many seasons are going to wait until we get the power back on? And then of course, it's our job now. So I can see. Rockne had no problem telling me he has a solid plan here.

It's really fascinating. We're really building the show in this kind of a big saga. It's, you know, really looking at us kind of a mythic tale of the future. And it's kind of mankind is taking making this the ship, something that the ship we would never do on our own. But because of the event because of the blackout, mankind is now being kind of shifted into this other, this other thing kind of forced into it. And I kind of I picture the characters in the show as kind of

the heroes of the future. It's like they're the ones who will like 100 years from when the show takes place. They'll be building statues and writing cautionary books about who these characters are. But we're watching them as they're becoming those heroes. And as they're, you know, sort of seeing them kind of words and all. Which I think is fascinating. And it's kind of to me very interesting to kind of look at the group of characters, some of whom on screens from the

first season are good guys, critically good guys, and critically bad guys, and trying to say, okay, what's the ultimate configuration? If this were a mythic epic saga, where will these characters end up? It's the biggest show on network TV last year. Now the cast of the show is big. And I wondered, is that difficult? It's challenging. It really is because it is a big cast. You want to have your characters together, you know, as often as possible. But what we're doing, and Eric's very

cool about, like, let's just go for it, in terms of kind of breaking the people apart, and putting very shocking teamings together. So then you'll see, you know, combinations of characters which you would never expect, you know, from first season. And it gives us great risk in the writers' room because it's just, you know, it's just instant conflict among these characters. And then you throw on top of that, you know, the nuclear, you know, two nuclear bombs very often in the United States,

and it just kind of blows everything apart. So with all these changes, I went back to Tracy to ask her if she ever wanted to suggest a direction for her character. You know what, I try not to do that. Because I just love, I love what I'm getting. I've never had to, you know, put my own, you know, wishes onto that. I just love watching what their ideas are and where we're, you know what I mean? So I, and everything that's happened, I'm thrilled about. So no, I haven't really

done that. Is the short answer to that. Apparently I like to extrapolate a lot. I just like to hear my own voice. Sure was a Marvel weekend at the box office, but the real story is, is the numbers were even better than expected. Thor the Dark World, the eighth film for Marvel Studios topped the weekend box office with an estimated 86.1 million

dollars, a little below where Skyfall debuted about a year ago. However, it debuted higher than the original Thor movie and pretty much on track with where Iron Man three hit theaters back in the spring. Of course, the success of the Avengers had something to do with making the Thor film the fourth biggest opening of the year so far, the box office. And when you add in the overseas sales as well, which have been tremendous over the past week or so, the film seems to be headed for a total

box office of about 600 million sometime over the next few weeks worldwide. It's three out of four for DC, racking up the biggest market share in comic stores in October. They did it now three times over the past four months and the margin victory still tiny, though, over Marvel 31.2 percent over Marvel's 31.47 percent. Some other big news in the sales and stores in October included a big success story for image comics and some interesting moves in the graphic novel area as well. We'll

check the entire sales picture coming up. It's the kind of publicity that more than likely the network's pretty happy about. One million moms has cited the new NBC series Dracula as being far too violent and gory for its Friday night time slot coming at a time when a lot of young kids and teenagers are staying up late for the weekend. In a letter to advertisers, the moms complained about things like terrifying screams of rotted corpse, death, murder, a woman burned alive while

tied to the stake and, of course, homosexual content. The letter went to advertisers like Chili's, Olive Garden, Revlon and Jello. No word yet from any of those companies. We finally know the times for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Celebration Special that airs just in a few weeks here later this month. Of course, November 23rd is Saturday is the official date and a few weeks back, BBC folks announced that they would do a simulcast between both England

and here to cut down on some of the torrent activity. So if you want to see the anniversary special on the first go round in the U.S., it'll air at 250 p.m. on BBC America on that Saturday. There'll be a later showing during prime time on that Saturday evening. And, of course, many theaters in the area are also doing a special showing a couple of days later on the 25th. Check your local theater listings for Fathom Events to see if your city is one of those included.

Fox has not only purchased the pilot for the new series Border Town, they've sent it straight to series as well. It's an animated comedy created by family guys Mark Haneman and executive produced, of course, by Seth MacFarlane as well. It's set in a fictitious desert town near the Mexican line and involves lives of both an American and a Mexican family as well. The series will debut on the Fox Network during the 2014-15 TV season. It will take the

place of American Dad, which is also moving to TBS with new episodes in late 2014. If you're one of those who fell in love with Hollywood Game Night over the summer, well, it's coming back for a holiday special hosted by Jane Lynch and featuring guest Ray Romano, Cheryl Hines, and Gavin DeGraw. It'll air on NBC Monday, December 2nd at 10 p.m. You need a big scorecard to keep up with all the comics, the movies, and television projects. And here's one more to add to it. iZombie, the DC

series from a while back is now in development at the CW, which is a pretty obvious choice considering the success the network has had with DC properties. And of course, there is that zombie craze. Look for more on iZombie as we get closer to pilot season in the spring of 2014. It's pretty much a big bag when you head into comic stores this week. Starting at Dark Horse with a four-issue miniseries, it begins this week with a number one and the title, Clown Fatal.

Sexy Clown Babes, as Dark Horse puts it, and the work of Tim Sealy on a couple of different covers make it least worth a look. Over DC, Zero Year continues with issues of Batman, Bad Girl, and Green Lantern Corps, as well as Nightwing, all the 25th issues of those titles. Also, there's a compilation of Joe Kubert Presents and a pretty inexpensive trade paperback, just under 20 bucks. From IDW, My Little Pony Art Gallery comes in at just under four bucks if you have someone interested

in My Little Pony. And Rocketeer Spirit Pulp Friction gets another issue out fairly quick this time. Third one is in stores this week. From Image, Peter Panzerfaus number 15 is a second printing, Rock and Girl number one has a second printing as well as a new issue number two out this week. Three number one gets a second printing and three number two is out this week as well. Plus an issue with The Walking Dead and a second printing of Zero number two. From Marvel,

Cataclysm moves over to all of its Spider-Man with a first issue there. And if you're still basking into the light of the Thor movie, well there's a whole bunch of Thor stuff this week. Thor got a Thunder number 15, Thor sunlight and shadows a trade paperback, and Thor Warriors 3, the complete collection. All trade paperbacks available from Marvel this week. All that and more in comic stores near you, you pretty much know the drill. Find the nearest ones with the comic book

Comic sales in shops were up again in October almost 12 percent. Graphic novels though took a little bit of a dip. And when you compare the numbers for over a year, comic sales again continue to grow. Year to date comics have grown in 2013 almost 12 and a half percent.

All that being said, your top 10 best-selling comics for the month started number 10 with Superior Spider-Man number 19. At number 9 Superior Spider-Man number 20 from Marvel. At number 8 the same ad overture first issue from DC. At number 7 Superman Wonder Woman number 1. At number 6 Justice League number 24 Marvel is back with Infinity number 5 at the fifth place on the list. At number 4 Forever Evil number 2 from DC. Infinity number 4 came in as the third

best-selling comic. Second one away from the top is Batman number 24 and here you go for this one best-selling comic of the month the anniversary issue Walking Dead number 115 from Image. And as for the podcast we're back in a couple of days we'll take a look at Almost Human the new Fox series that had moved around a little bit to give it more of a showcase and certainly brought a lot of buzz with it as well.
