The Point Radio. Hey, it's Mike Raub back from Comic Con, and we're ready to share with you who we ran into on the floor and what they were talking about. Plus meet Trevor Tice. He's no Constantine or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He's a real-life monster hunter, and he talks about what it's like to face some pretty frightening creatures every week on his show, Mountain Monsters. Let's get to The Point. This is The Point. Comic Con 2014 is now in the record books, but it'll live forever with Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and of course all of our memories as well. When you hit the floor of Comic Con and run into some old friends, usually the first thing you talk about as well, how are you surviving Comic Con? And that's exactly what we brought up when we ran into Archer star Ayesha Tyler. So I didn't wake up, I woke up feeling strong. Yeah, I knew that the biggest tactical error I possibly could have made was to break myself the first night of Comic Con, so I was very good. The biggest buzz on the floor, of course, comic book television shows, iZombie, Flash, Gotham, and of course NBC's Constantine.
I talked to John Constantine himself, actor Matt Ryan, and asked him how he's getting ready for the role. I'm a comic fan, I mean, yeah, I started reading them, I haven't read them all yet, there's a lot of them, but I just started reading them and using the source material, and then I've got this thick moleskin book of just all my John Constantine stuff with images and like, you know, little different lines that I use for comic comics and stuff, and just cleaning as much as I can from the source material. Grant Guston will be the fastest man alive on the new CW series The Flash, but when we met at Comic Con, he was wearing a t-shirt of a different hero. Was that a Superman symbol? I'm a lifelong Superman fan, so I mean, if I had ever come to a comic-con court today, it would have been in a Superman costume. Nobody's more excited about being part of the new craze than Hailey Adwell, reprising her role as Peggy Carter in the Marvel movie slash Captain America slash Agents of SHIELD spin-off, Agent Carter.
I mean, it's a dream come true, it's fantastic, you know, it's a character I've already kind of explored, so to revisit her and just to make her richer and deeper and more interesting is a great challenge for me as an actor, and I've already kind of broken the eyes with these guys, I love working with them, so. We can just get so much more out of it since I already know what to expect with Peggy. Movies, TV, comics, there's a lot of great stuff headed our way the rest of this year. We saw a bunch of it at Comic Con, and we're going to share it with you in the weeks to come, right here. The very latest in pop culture starts right now. There are more airings of the movie set over the next few weeks, or you can catch it on demand at Sci-Fi now. Just like Batman, Archie's about ready to celebrate his 75th anniversary, and there are a few extra things planned.
There'll be a hardcover book dedicated to the art of Archie over the past seven decades, and that'll be done by Craig Yo, who did a similar project for IDW not that long ago. The company said there's also plans for an Archie day or similar events around the country, and those will be revealed as we get closer to the official 75th anniversary early next year. Ray Donovan fans are getting a little extra fix with a new web series that'll be launched on Showtime's digital platforms. Behind the fix, it's called. It'll be available on show.com, YouTube, iTunes, ShowSync, Showtime on demand, and Showtime anywhere immediately after each episode's first airings, all through the month of August and September. YouTube has released its stats for the top 10 most viewed trailers for the second quarter of this year. This includes, of course, trailers for games, upcoming TV shows, and movies as well.
All together, the top 10 list accounts for some 98 million views, totally. And on the list are things like the Hercules movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the trailer for that. Disney's teaser released for Cinderella. The teaser for the Gotham television series headed to Fox in a few months. And then we're down to the top three, and those are at number three, Mortal Kombat X, the announced trailer. X-Men Days of Future Past, the movie, and the number one most viewed teaser trailer, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare with some 20.9 million views. By the way, not on this list is the 50 Shades of Grey trailer, which just broke a few days ago. That's already at well over 7 million views and will more than likely lead the top 10 list in the next quarter. You might want to grab your calendar and circle the date of October 12. In fact, put a couple of red rings around it because on that day, the new season of Walking Dead debuts and according to the folks who appeared at Comic Con,
everything in the first episode of the new season is a spoiler. That's a direct quote from the co-executive producer of the series. By the way, the series picked up some 13.4 million viewers last season, as expected to do even better this year. And again, season five of The Walking Dead launches on AMC on Sunday, October the 12th at 9 p.m. Couple of aged but still familiar properties are going to get the comic book treatment according to some news picked up at Comic Con. First up, Escape from New York, which will get a new comic series from Boom written by Christopher Sibelius. It'll also have a couple of variant covers, including ones by Tim Bradstreet and that new series will debut in December. And then the folks at Action Lab Entertainment are reviving Full Moon's puppet master franchise to comics. Creators for this new series will be handpicked by the series creator Charles Band, and it's set to debut sometime later this year. Meanwhile, slightly more contemporary, Orphan Black moves into the comics world with the new series from IDW. That'll be set to debut sometime next year, just about the time that the third season comes along on BBC America.
Forget about Constantine or even Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Meet Trapper Tice. He's a real-life mountain hunter looking for creatures in America's Appalachian Mountains and part of an organization called AIMS, the Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings. Trapper's adventures are recorded on a show called Mountain Monsters, just finishing up its second season on Destination America. I first asked Trapper what the show was all about. Oh, Mountain Monsters, you're gonna see some good old country boys, and we're out there chasing mysterious creatures. We're back in Parry County, Ohio, in Moonshine, Iowa, and we're going after the high grass man. It is one of the best episodes we've ever filmed. So how did he become a real-life monster hunter? Remember hiding behind my mom's chair and peeking out around Liglin with snowy television with scary stuff back in the day. So, and I grew up in the woods.
I was hunting on my own when I was probably nine years old. My dad caught my gun safety, he caught my cropping, he caught me out on hunt, and I'm very, very good at it. And so it just kind of evolved here about ten years ago, in AIMS, when we started the AIMS team, that we really got busy in chasing mysterious creatures and investigating mysterious creatures. And then how did AIMS get started? Well, I actually, Willie was just raised up down the hall from me. I knew Willie since he was a pup. And Huckleberry was, we worked on construction together, and I've met Jeff for years. And a mutual friend told us about Wild Bill, and he introduced us, we brought Wild Bill on. And Huckleberry was real good friends with Buck. So Buck was our rookie, he's strong as a bull, and he does our stinky job, so we had a lot of fun with Buck.
Does he have a particular scary moment you'll always remember? I believe the Snallygaster up in that triangle of West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania was maybe one of the scariest creatures we've ever chased. What was the origin of that creature? Well, he's a flying creature. And we found his nest, and a lot of good witnesses. It was a few episodes back in season two, and he was just hard to handle. He was something kind of attached to the air and gives you a month's order from the air. It's hard to get away from.
Why so many creatures just in the Appalachian Mountains? The Appalachian Mountains are some of the roughest mountains in this country. Now, we're not near as tall as the Rockies, but we don't have those big plateaus. We're straight up and down with narrow haulers and dark haulers. And West Virginia is 89% woodland, so there's thousands and thousands of acres for these creatures to hide. To be by theirself, where no one will bother them. And we have a great food source in millions of oak trees that produce acorns every year. We have a huge three million deer herd for them to feed on. So, actually, Appalachia and West Virginia is the heart of that.
It's an ideal situation for any of the mysterious creatures to live. All right. Being honest, there are some people who, well, just don't believe what they see. What kind of reaction does Trapper have to them? Well, there's always the skeptics. You know what I mean? They don't matter what it is, they're really skeptics. But they haven't walked in my footsteps. If they'd walk in my footsteps, they'd be both believers. How do they find new creatures to track?
Our website, AIMS, our AIMS website, a lot of them comes into there. And so, we've been around for a few years now. So, Joe Blow talks to Joe Jim and tells us all about it. And they know how to get a hold out in there, get a hold of Jeff. And that's how it all starts ball rolling. As I said, Mount Monsters just finished up season two, and Trapper said they're ready to roll into the next season right now. Oh, yeah, yeah. We've got some cool ones under our belt that we're season three that we're going after.
