The Point Radio Hey it's Mike Raub, the second season of the Star's original drama Da Vinci's Demons is about ready to premiere and actors Tom Riley and Laura Haddock take us along on a special preview plus some big news about Captain America and some really cool Twilight Zone toys for your show Let's get to The Point
This is The Point The Point Radio Get The Point Radio It's season number two for the Star's original series Da Vinci's Demons and since the show began last year the major characters have progressed a lot
I talked about that with actress Laura Haddock who plays Lucretia Yeah so we start season one and we meet her and she's the wife of a head tech stylist, Lawrence She's having a sort of organized affair with Lorenzo de Medici and she's the lover of Leonardo da Vinci so we kind of think that maybe she's just an attractive woman
sort of judging around Florence living in Italy, having all these different relationships with men We don't really know who she is, we think maybe she utilizes her beauty more than anything and then throughout season one you realize that there's so much more to her and she's really really layered and complex and we start to question who we think this woman is
We don't know whether she's kind of good or bad and we learn a few things about her in season one but wholly you get to the end of the season and think that you still don't really know who she is Heading into season two I got to go back in time and play her when she was about 15 or 16 years old so that was great to go and discover what happened to her in her life at that age to make her who she is today
and I feel like people will feel a lot clearer about who she is and what she's been through and why she's doing the things that she's doing now Actor Tom Riley plays Leonardo da Vinci and he talked to me about how that character has evolved over the first season Yeah well I mean I always knew that we were heading in a certain direction with Leonardo which is maybe more the direction that people expected him
It's more the version that's in everyone's heads at the end of his life but we knew it was going to take a while to get there and certainly in this second season we're going to see how that Leonardo's anti-social behavior for want of a better word is affecting himself as much as it's affecting the people around him like he did in the first season So it's been really interesting to show a slight transformation in the character
and that's not least because of the people he has to work with that he wouldn't have had to work with before and the people that he doesn't get to see that perhaps he was more comfortable around So how are things going into this new run of episodes? Last year no one knew what the show was so everyone's been very polite and politely applauding going well that looks crazy Why's Leonardo got short hair?
But this year people know what the show is they get it they understand it and that's amazing Last year we did the Comic Con and then we went straight to the TCAs which is a very different beast and the journalists are all very they've watched 100, 200 pilots, they're jaded, they're not necessarily that interested and everything becomes very serious suddenly So do I actually come and spend the time with the people who enjoy the show? It's like giving it back
As Laura's character becomes more and more important to the overall story I talked to her about where she'd like to see Lucretia end up I would like her to find peace with what it is that she's trying to avenge I'd like her to be able to start living a life without having this burden and see who she would become and see who she is naturally because I think she would have been a very different person
I'd like to, I almost feel like she's kind of the female ally to Leonardo in a way She's very strong, she's a very solitary life, she's emotionally driven certainly I think that standing alongside him whether it's romantically or as equals would be an interesting place for her to be situated I think there are later places I'd like to take care of, but I think the writers do I never feel like I wish they'd taken me to this place
I definitely feel satisfied with her journey this year When the big story arcs of the new season will take the major characters to the new world and I ask Laura if her character will be part of that When she travels, she doesn't necessarily travel with him so she's kind of on her own journey at this point
I think they both have got a lot of discovering to do, a lot of questions need to be answered and so she's off doing that, desperately trying to avenge this thing that happened to her in her life as I said about 10 years ago and until she's done that, there's no room for any sort of relationship with him he's on his own quest as well, he's in search of a book of leaves
and he wants to find out all these answers that he's looking for about his mother as well so yeah, we kind of leave each other and go off on our own separate journeys and then maybe come back together at the end, you know Tom talked to me about the limits that are still there in playing such a familiar historical character People hold him in such a biased theme, right? Of course they do rightly
and Harold did as one of the greatest minds in history but they have a version of him in their heads that is the most recorded one and that was at the end of his life when he had a lifetime of learning and we don't have, we don't, you know, we are just dealing with him in his 20s before he's had that experience so that pressure was tough, trying to communicate to someone who perhaps the audiences weren't ready to accept
was hard, but worthwhile I think, once you stick it out, when you see how we're getting there slowly by slowly it's step by step, it's going to be worth it Is it hard keeping the balance between genius and flawed man believable? That's the best thing about it, it's incredibly difficult to play someone who is an every man in the extent that he's got to be the lead of a show that people can relate to and connect with
who is also the smartest man in history who was somewhere on the autistic spectrum that is including me under social and doesn't treat people very well and can be a bit of a cocky arrogant dick so that idea of trying it at the same time to say that like me, that, that, yeah, that was, that was the toughest thing We've got more on DaVinci's Demons coming up meanwhile the second season is running on the Stars Network and you can see more including the first season as well right now at stars.com

including one directed by Joss Whedon and right now the third Captain America movie looks like it may go head to head with the Batman Superman movie Soldiers are saying that it will open that same weekend as the Warner Brothers film both on May 6, 2016 It was an interesting month in February in the graphic novel aisle in the bookstores with neither Marvel or DC placing a title in the top ten or even in the top twenty
The top ten best selling graphic novels in bookstores included Walking Dead volume one at number ten At number nine Attack on Titan at number eight Attack on Titan volumes two and eleven respectively Number seven was Adventure Time number four Walking Dead was back on the list of volume nineteen at number six Locke & Key the sixth volume was at number five First Attack on Titan came at number four
Naruto volume 64 came at number three in the top two best selling graphic novels At number two Walking Dead Compendium volume two and at number one The first Walking Dead Compendium of both from Image CBS began the renewal process by giving the go ahead to eighteen of their prime time shows including the NCIS franchise, Person of Interest, CSI, Hawaii Five-O, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds,
Elementary, The Good Wife and comedies like Two Broke Girls, The Millers, Mike and Molly, Mom and Two and a Half Men as well Of course it was a multi-year deal out there for the Big Bang Theory and Survivor and Still on the Bubble, Hostages, Intelligence and the Crazy Ones The folks at Biff Bang Power teamed up with Zika Toys to produce a line of retro action figures based on the Twilight Zone, the original TV series

However, showrunners for the series now admit they kind of know where things are going Even though the last two volumes of George RR Martin's books have yet to been published Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Wise told the folks at Vanity Fair they talked to Martin and got details in a broad fashion of where most of the characters will end up Right now it looks like the series will run seven seasons which makes us just a little past a halfway point
And again that new run of episodes begins on HBO on April the 6th Well you can start working on your summer TV watching calendar CBS has announced that Big Brother will be back on June 25th on the network for at least two broadcasts a week Also the third season of Unforgettable will premiere as well on the 25th
And Under the Dome comes back for another season on CBS on Monday, June 30th It's mid 60s TV all… It's mid 60s TV all over again when Batman teams up with the Green Hornet It's the Batman that runs in the Batman 66 digital comic from DC And he'll be teamed up with a version of the Green Hornet from the television series in the 60s as well
The series will be written by Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman from Smodcast And also with art by Ty Templeton and it'll be covers by Alex Ross as well The story will pick up at the end of those two episodes from the 60s Batman TV series that feature the Green Hornet And they'll be released digitally on May 21st with a print edition going to comic stores in early June That's it for right now we're back with more on Da Vinci's Demons
