Amazed and Elated: Depressed and Deflated

AMAZED & ELATED, DEPRESSED & DEFLATED is from the highly skilled, insightful, and humorous pen of Aron Lee Bowe. The combination of potent imagery and insightful commentary provides pure laugh-out-loud fun-it’s hard to outshine this delightful graphic novel. Bowe blends sardonic, self-deprecating comedy with disarming sincerity. The comic memoir is divided into six stories dealing with teen heartbreak, a personal history of underwear, stage fright, fast cars, drive-ins, Adam & Eve, Mona Lisa, the Devil, Salvador Dali, sandwiches, political alienation, Richard Nixon, Oprah, nude dancing, to name just a few. Vibrant and earthy illustrations power this highly original graphic novel by an artist to watch out for. Her imagination bursting free from the constraints of a small-town Midwestern upbringing, Bowe shares her singular vision of an adventurous girl finding her escape from conformity through art.
