Do You Speak Tree?

A modern Lorax! In this joyful graphic novel for young readers, a good-natured oak tree sets out on a mission to find someone who will speak up for the forest.

“A lushly illustrated tale for youngsters that will inspire environmental empathy.” — Kirkus Reviews

If a tree falls and no one around cares, what do you do? Oakie the oak tree sets out to find help. But when Oakie speaks, would-be friends become confused. The problem is that Oakie speaks “Tree,” a fun visual language that no one else understands.

That all changes when Oakie meets Art, an imaginative elementary student with a crayon in hand and a plan in mind to inspire the world. Will Art and Oakie save the day? That all depends… Do you speak Tree?

What makes the Art & Oakie Ask series unique is that each book is a nearly wordless. The vibrant comic book visuals tell the story. To read each book aloud, you and your little ones get to make up the story for yourself, so no matter your age or reading ability, you can speak up for nature with Art and Oakie!
