First Family: The Bush Family

Legacy. For the Bush family, legacy is a powerful word, hinting at destiny made manifest and the promises of generations kept. George Herbert Walker Bush became the 41st President of the United States, and his son, George W. Bush, in the shadow of his father’s political career until the events of 9-11, was elected as the nation’s 43rd President. Jeb Bush was the 43rd governor of Florida, while First (and one time Second) Lady Barbara Bush founded the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. As the First Lady, the Gallup Organization recognized Laura Bush as one of the most popular due to her involvement with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization.
