The Art of Survival

The Art of Survival is a graphic memoir that follows one man’s journey from trauma to triumph, told through the loving and reflective lens of his granddaughter.

Facing brutal antisemitism and the rise of communism in post-WWII Hungary, his family lost everything and eventually escaped to Austria in the 1950s before emigrating to New York, where he built his career as an artist and professor.

Through expressive illustrations and heartfelt narration, this book captures the enduring power of creativity, memory, and resilience passed across generations.

A unique blend of family history and visual storytelling, The Art of Survival is a powerful reminder that the scars of the past can also inspire the art of the future.
