The Me You Love in the Dark

A gorgeously rendered blend of horror and romantasy that spirals into obsession, isolation, and unholy inspiration and provides the perfect read for spooky season

Writer Skottie Young (I Hate Fairyland, Fortunately, the Milk, Deadpool, Strange Academy) and artist Jorge Corona (Feathers) follow up their critically acclaimed, Eisner Award nominated series Middlewest with a brand new haunting tale.

Desperate to rekindle her creativity, a young painter named Ro retreats to a dusty, haunted Victorian house in the hopes that solitude will summon her muse. Instead she finds something else entirely–something watching, whispering, waiting in the dark. As her agents’ calls go unanswered and the pressure to produce mounts, Ro becomes entangled in a twisted romance with a mysterious presence that promises passion, purpose… and perhaps possession.

What begins as inspiration tangos toward infatuation–and then becomes something far more dangerous. This toxic descent into madness is like an A24 horror film by way of Jennifer’s Body and is ensorcelled in a slow-creeping sense of dread. The Me You Love in the Dark flirts with Faustian themes and offers a chilling look at the price of creation–and what we’re willing to surrender for our deepest passions.
