Long ago in the desolate wilderness of Manitoba, Canada, a ruthless fur hunter by the name of Bloody Thompson is out to slaughter the beaver for their precious pelts. Although he has hired two Indian scouts to track the beavers, they are no match for George, the beavers’ reluctant hero. Mild-mannered George soon becomes Thompson’s nemesis. Across the prairies of Western Canada, Grandpa George leads us on an adventurous chase full of twists and turns in which Bloody Thompson and his Metis scouts are thwarted at every attempt to capture their prey. Following several perilous struggles, George successfully leads his clan to the fertile valley of the Okanagan in British Columbia where they can begin life anew.
