During the long, strange summer of the COVID quarantine, we were all looking for ways to stay grounded, distracted, or at least entertained. For me, that meant turning a sketchpad, a recliner chair, and some hidden clues into a virtual guessing game that sparked a small but loyal following.

What started as a surreal drawing challenge – obscuring a person in a recliner chair and surrounding them with visual clues – became an interactive art series. People would guess who the hidden figure was based on the “Easter eggs” embedded in the scene. The first correct guess won the original drawing.

And then came the Ted Kaczynski piece. After that, everyone wanted more.

This book is a collection of those true crime “recliner games” – drawn in isolation, shared online, and tied together by one of our darker fascinations: the mysteries of the criminal mind. It’s part puzzle, part portfolio, and part reflection on how we coped with fear, boredom, and too much time at home.

Equal parts creepy and clever, True Crime in the Recliner is a visual record of a weird chapter in history – where armchairs, Easter eggs, and unsolved riddles helped us feel just a little more connected.
