Broadcast 164. ComicGix.com. ComicMix Radio. Lights! Camera.

OK, roll sound. So how do you juggle time? Hi, it's Mike Raub on ComicMix Radio. You know for a comic book professional, that can be a tough question.

And today we talk to one noted writer who's just been forced to clear off a little bit of his plate. Plus your very first chance to grab a Graham Crackers comic variant on the way, and a lot more all adding up to a really big show.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Beatles! Oh yeah, that too, all coming up on February 16th. 2008, ComicMix News. A little sad note, at least for us, Paramount has moved the J.J. Abrams Star Trek

movie from its original debut on Christmas Day. It's now scheduled for the beginning of the summer movie season in 2009, specifically to open on May the 8th. Usually movies move back because of script or technical difficulties, but right now this movie was moved back.

So it could again prop up the beginning of the movie season in 2009. It's got some stiff competition then, of course, including X-Men origin Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman. That opens up a week before that on May 1st.

And the Sony sequel to the Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, opens a week later on May 15th. Right now, though, no Star Trek until May 2009. The Davel brothers are developing a new comic book project with the pop rock group Fall Out Boy.

The band's going to be heavily involved in this new project, which is kind of unusual, at least direction-wise for the Davels. She says she's no good with words, but I mean worse. But they started out a joke of a grown man

who took a start to my town. The band's latest album, Infinity on High, debuted at number one last year. And they say that this new comic book series is going to run multiple issues and will debut late issues.

["The Star-Spangled Banner"] According to MTV, Microsoft Game Studios has confirmed they have pulled the plug on the Marvel massively multiplayer online game. It was announced not that long ago, back in September of 2006,

with a lot of fanfare, and was hopefully going to grow to the same size as the much-played World of Warcraft. That never happened, so Microsoft said no more. Into an end to happen that sold out before it hit the store's

issue of Captain Marvel is going back to press with a second printing variant that should be out in a couple of weeks. Captain Marvel number three, second printing, will have an interior variant cover by artist Lee Weeks.

And you should be able to get it in the stores right around the middle of March. By the way, speaking of Skrulls, that is the key to get you a graham crackers comic variant issue. And we'll give you details on that coming up

in a couple of minutes. Zombie Tales is coming back with a new run at Boom Comics. This time it's monthly, and it brings along a lot of big names in the new series. Some of those names include Steve Niles, of course,

from 30 Days of Night, Joe R. Lansdale from Jonah Hex, and from the movie's Academy Award nominee, Kim Kryzen, who wrote Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. The brand new run of Zombie Tales begins monthly from Zoom Studios,

with a number one set to hear comic stores in April. Another round of renewals for the 2008-2009 TV season, this time from CBS. They say they're going to bring back Cold Case, Criminal Minds, all the different CSI series.

Ghost Whisperer, NCIS, Numbers, Two and a Half Men, Without a Trace, and The Big Bang Theory all return in the fall, as well as Survivor and Amazing Race on CBS. Meanwhile, TVGuide.com has switched their Strike Survival

Guide to a Strike Recovery Guide. They'll keep viewers up to date on when new episodes of favorite shows are coming back to television. Cartoon Network has acquired the US rights to the anime series Bakugan, which premieres on the network coming up soon,

on Sunday, February 24 at 9 PM. It's based on a strategic card game produced by Sega Toys and Spin Master. And the series revolves around kids of the world who one day begin finding cards coming out of the sky,

with every card featuring a different character, which in turn corresponds to an alternate world where war has broken out. Bakugan cards will more than likely be available in local retail stores as well.

Hi, this is Adam Hughes. I draw your favorite Bimbo comic book covers, and you're listening to ComicMix. ComicMix Radio. Sean McKeever has been a mainstay of the writing

table at DC Comics, and before that at Marvel and the Independent World for quite a little while. Close recently, he's been doing both the Teen Titans and Birds of Prey at DC, as well as working on the weekly countdown series.

But lately, Sean felt that he had to do a little juggling. I'm really a three book person. I can't really work on more than three projects at a time. I have done it, and I just don't really like it. And so with doing about a script a week

and then having an extra week for plotting and all the other stuff that happens day to day, that's about perfect for me. Two days ago, it was announced that Sean would be leaving Birds of Prey, starting with the issue

out in April. That's number 117. But he's full steam ahead on the Teen Titans. And that's just a big crazy action comic book. And I'm just having a blast writing these characters.

I love writing the teen drama stuff, as from way back in the day when I was writing The Waiting Place 10 years ago. That's the thing for me. And so I've got the teen angst, the teen drama,

but you've also got all the superhero action and all that stuff to deal with as well. So that's been a lot of fun for me. Sean is also set to write two of the big issues of Countdown as it winds down.

He'll be taking issues number two and three. But in doing so, has he felt pressure to tie in his other titles? Not so much with Teen Titans. I wanted to keep both Teen Titans and Birds of Prey

on their own. For the most part, I wanted to try to keep away from that stuff. But I'm sure that once Final Crisis comes along, I'll be a bit more involved in that.

Dan D'Dio is the editor, actually, of Teen Titans now. And so since he's so heavily involved, obviously, and everything else going on in the DCU, I'm sure that we will make plans to be involved in Final Crisis in some way.

But at the same time, I want to keep it completely accessible to somebody who's not reading Final Crisis. Oh, feel bad. Things are starting to fill up on Sean's calendar already. He has a new mini-series.

It hits at DC sometime right around the debut of Final Crisis. And we'll give you more on that coming up. Make us your home page. It's ComicMix.com.

It is your first chance to grab a rare variant comic, an exclusive issue from Graham Crackers Comics. They got nine stores in the Chicagoland area to serve you. But if you're out of that area, don't worry. They serve the entire planet at GrahamCrackersComics.com.

ComicMix, they are. ComicMix timeline. February 16, 1964. We couldn't wait to get out of school today and head down to the drug store for a good load of DCs,

including Brave and Bold number 53, which had the Flash and the Adam team up and that gorgeous artwork by Alex Toth. There was also Challengers of the Unknown number 37, Green Lantern number 28 as well from DC,

and the first issue of Walkman in a new series by Murphy Anderson, as well as House of Mystery number 142, and Superboy number 112, with a story about the boy who replaced Clark Kent. As great week continued, we got the first issue

of a new series at Marvel called Daredevil, and Journey into Mystery number 103, with a really cool Thor story, as well as one where Human Torch met the Ice Man in Strangetales number 120, and we even had a couple of dimes left over

for Toucan Kid number 69, and from ACG, the first issue of Herbie. 1964. In the news, despite the threat of a Turkish invasion, Cyprus was refused an emergency meeting

of the United Nations. President Johnson considered a military intervention in a 13-week-old railway strike in Florida, and Democrats were hopeful of a big win in the fall when President Johnson said he would run again

for a stay in the White House. In the movies, Elvis was in fun in Acapulco, Troy Donahue had a Palm Springs weekend, John Wayne was in McClintock, and Disney re-released Fantasia on the big screen,

and then TV Tonight on this Sunday had episodes of My Favorite Martian, Judy Garland, and Bonanza, but all eyes were on the Ed Sullivan Show, or just seven days ago. He rocked showbiz with the premiere of The Beatles.

Originating tonight from Miami Beach, the show would have been their second appearance, but Ringo had a lot of fond memories about the fun of that very first time on the Sullivan stage. The main thing I was aware of

when we did the first Ed Sullivan show was that we rehearsed all afternoon, a couple of hours, and TV was such bad sound, so we would have them tape our rehearsals, and we'd go up and we'd mess with the dials

that they had in the control booth. So we sort of got it all set with the engineer there, and we went off for a break, and the story has it, because we didn't see it, but the cleaner came in while we were out,

and she came to clean the room and the console, and thought, what are all these chalk marks, and wiped them all off. So then we had a real hasty John trying to get some sound. Ladies and gentlemen, The Beatles!

Ah! On a radio, a young girl who started singing at an early age by taking voice lessons from the guy who was the manager of Danny and the Juniors. She then recorded for a little while

under the Atco record label, but they reversed her name by mistake, and she decided to change it anyway. Things still didn't work out until she hooked up with Bob Frew, the guy behind the sound

of the four seasons, and from then, Goldstrum. 1964! She's Diane Renee with Blue Navy Blue, I'm as blue as I can be, cause my steady voice and shiver

enjoy your Navy green. Shut up! www.ComicMix.com. We have a urgent telephone call for somebody called Wally at the front office.

Yeah, that's all they said. Someone called Wally. All right, as you hit the web to search for the answer to our trivia question, do not forget that all important email.

It is podcastatcomicmix.com. Brand new Jon Sable, beautiful grim jacket, so much more await you for your weekend rating free on ComicMix.com. Lots of stuff to comment into as well,
