Marvel made some big announcements this week about what's going to be coming up after Secret Evasion. Speaking before a Diamond Retailers group, Brian Michael Bendis said the next storyline will be called Dark Rain. It will feature the after effects of what happened during Secret Evasion and include several Marvel Universe titles. It will be tied in to the Dark Rain. Other Marvel News had Bendis leaving the Mighty Avengers after issue number 20.
But the launch of a new Avengers title called Dark Avengers with our work by Michael Diodato. Ultimate Avengers will be a new title in the Ultimate Universe. That's by Mark Millar appearing sometime early in 2009. And there's a lot of talk about the 600th issue of Spider-Man. No solid tips on the plot yet, but they're saying it will probably tell us what really happened at Spider-Man's wedding.
And another new title will be Marvel Noir. Not much told about that either except for some black and white teasers you can see all over the internet. It is though to feature X-Men, Spider-Man and other major Marvel characters. Chuck Dixon has moved over to IDW and will be part of their relaunch of the GI Joe property. There will be three different GI Joe books coming from IDW.
Chuck Dixon's book will be simply titled GI Joe. It will be the first one to appear early in the year. January 2009 is what it's set for with our work by Robert Atkins and covers by Dave Johnson. Spider-Man 4 is starting to make the rumor mill circuit. Looks like the Sony's not letting too much out about that.
But there are pretty strong indications that both Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi will be returning. There's a script in from Jamie Vanderbilt, the guy who did Zodiac, and there's no word yet on whether Kirsten Dunst will be part of the package. Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane's new web series, Calvary Gate of Cartoon Comedy, launches tomorrow. You can catch it at SethComedy.com.
There will be one new clip added each week for the next 50 weeks. They'll also appear on Fandango.com and Maxim.com. And you also may want to note that any offensive dialogue in the cartoons will be bleeped out. Hi, I'm Peter David from The Dark Tower and this is ComicMix. ComicMix Radio.
What's coming out this week? Alright, as we step through the door, your favorite shop, we stop at the rack to grab something new this week from the Davil Brothers. They're doing Dean Coons Frankenstein and several different story arcs. This is volume one. It's issue number three that's been running for a while.
That'll be five when it's done in this particular series, and it's called Prodigal Son. From Dark Horse, we get Criminal Macabre, sub-lock 666 number one. That'll be four issues. The first issue of Star Wars Clone Wars adapted from movies and TV into comics. That'll be a six-issue run from Dark Horse.
There's the BPRD, the warning number three, which will be a five-issue series, and the goon number 28 from Dark Horse. Over to DC, 100 Bullets number 95, and it catch up a little bit. The 100 Bullets trade paperback volume 12 in that series, this one called Dirty. Then we move to our first best bet of the week.
The threads that Geoff Johns is laying down in Action Comics is going to have far-reaching effects on the Superman universe. So if you have any intention of being a DC fan over the next few years, you need to pay attention. And here's a good place to start this week with Action Comics number 869.
Also this week, we get All-Star Batman and Robin number 10, and a variant issue of that as well. The Batman Black and White collections continue. This is the third volume this week in a trade paperback. And there's Batman Confidential number 21.
We get Booster Gold number 12, and the DC Universe Decisions book begins. At the four-issue run, it begins this week, of course, with number one. We get Ex Machina number 38, Final Crisis Revelations number two. That's a five-issue run of that little cornerstone of the Final Crisis universe. We get Gen 13 number 22, Green Arrow Black Canary number 12.
We get Green Lantern Gord number 28. JLA's Salvation run is collected in a trade paperback this week, in case you want to catch up on that. And it's always good to have a version of Kingdom Come nearby this week. We get a new edition of that in a trade paperback.
For the All-Ages group, there's the Legion of Super Heroes in the 31st century number 18. I then showcase volume, the second one, reprinting some of those great metalmen stories at the 60s. There's Simon Dark number 12, Super Friends number seven. Of course, Trinity again this week at number 15. Probably the most widely spread book of the week.
Goes to the Watchman trade paperback. This is the International edition. Still on the bestseller list and subversion of the other. There's also Wonder Woman 24 this week and a World of Warcraft spin-off. Ashbringer begins with a four issue run and there's also a variant of that.
Winded up from DC, there's Young Liars number seven. Devil's New this week offers up a new series called Odd Squad. There's a couple of different variants of issue number one. From Dynamic Forces, Battlestar Galactica Orange is number nine. We get the glow in the dark cover for boys number 22.
We got the regular one for that last week. And then our next best bet. You know, it's not easy to recreate, revamp and get people interested again in a long time legend. But the guys behind the Lone Ranger comic have done that successfully over at Dynamic Forces. This is issue number 13 of the Lone Ranger this week.
Good place for you to jump on and see exactly what's being done there. Also from Dynamic Forces, we get Red Sonja number 37. From Image, there's Armory Wars 2 number four. That's a five issue run. Dark does number five comes this week, again with a couple of different covers.
Just as Dragon Prince number one does from Image, couple of different covers there. There's Invincible number 52. Kickdrum Comics number one, which is a two issue series. There's a Pox Romana Bumper edition, kind of a special book. You may want to check with your retailer on that one.
At the same time, you also may want to check on the second printing variant of War Heroes number one from Image. Marvel this week offers up a whole bunch of different variants. So pay attention here. We start with Amazing Spider Girl number 24, just one of those. Then there's Big Hero 6 number one.
That's going to be a five issue series. And again, there's a variant for that one. Second printing variant of the Secret Invasion tie-in of Black Panther number 39 comes this week. There's Cable Kingside Spectacular number one. Civil War House of M.
If you thought it was over, boy were you wrong. Number one this week in a five issue run for Marvel. There's Criminal 2 number five. Deadpool number one this week, which is a Secret Invasion tie-in and has a Rob Liefeld variant, by the way. There's the Turtles Collection featuring some of the great work by Jack Kirby, second volume in that run.
There's Gen Next number five, which winds up that series. There's the second printing of Ed McGinnis variant on the Hulk number five. And also this week we get Marvel Adventures Hulk number 15 for the All Ages group. There's Marvel Illustrated The Odyssey number one that begins an eight issue run. And Marvel Illustrated Three Musketeers number four, which is a six issue run there.
The Marvel Spotlight this week celebrates the tenth anniversary of Marvel Nights. Some interesting things to note there. And by the way, there's a monkey variant on that one. There's Marvel number 30 this week as the Secret Invasion tie-in. There's New Exiles number 11.
Second issue of NYX No Way Home. That'll be six issues when it's done. Omega The Unknown collected in a premium hardcover this week for you. And a third issue of five of Patsy Walker Hellcat. And again, there's a monkey variant on that one.
That our best bet of the week for Marvel. It's cool. Not too hard to figure out. Secret Invasion number six rolling along to be probably one of the better miniseries events Marvel's done in a while. Good place to grab it on as well.
You don't have to get the tie-ins here. You buy the regular book and Brian Bendis explains pretty much everything for you. There's the Secret Invasion in humans series though this week. That's number two of four issues. And Secret Invasion X-Men also number two of four issues this week.
Ultimate X-Men Fantastic Four annual number one this week from the Ultimate Universe. And there's the second printing variant on X-Men number 500. And another set of the printings that may get you up on one of the better stories of the year. Wolverine number 66, part of the old man Logan run as a third printing variant. And number 62 has a second printing variant this week.
There's a Wolverine miniseries again this week. Wolverine Sudadeh and also X-Men Magneto Testament this week begins from Marvel. Issue number one in a five issue run. Continuing the trend of more TV than movies this week. There's also some nice new repackages and special editions on the DVD rack.
We get a couple of different versions of the Forbidden Kingdom this week. There's also a new package version of Stephen King's Pet Sematary. Cool Hand Luke, one of the classics and one of the best by Paul Newman is also repackaged this week in a new edition. Just like Stephen King's Pet Sematary. And to continue the Friday new edition of Child's Play and a Blu-ray edition of Nightwatch.
Big package of this week comes to the 10th anniversary celebration of the cult classic The Big Lebowski. There's a special edition of that and a 10th anniversary extra ultra special edition as well this week on DVD. Add to the Blu-ray list Kill Bill both versions volume one and two on Blu-ray and a new version of Jerry Maguire as well. Just about the only theatrical release to hit disc this week was Baby Mama the Tina Fey comedy. That's on disc this week on DVD.
Pretty much a regular version of that. And we move to TV to get you warmed up for the new season. There's Grey's Anatomy season four. Ugly Betty season two on DVD and it's always sunny in Philadelphia. Season number three on DVD.
Add to the list CSI Miami season six and Wings season seven this week. But our pick is a little show that just keeps plugging away. Somebody save me Like it or hate it, you had to admit it was an interesting season on Smallville this year. Some interesting twists and turns and tie into the DC Universe and now season seven of Smallville available on DVD.
ComicMix radio. ComicMix timeline September 9th. 1963. Again 12 cents was the magic number this week down at the drugstore and we were fascinated still with those early stories of the Doom Patrol. In My Greatest Adventure this week we got number 83.
Hawkman joined Adam Strange in Mystery in Space number 87 this week. We got Tomahawk number 89, Wonder Woman number 142 with the Wonder Woman family. Batman number 159 came along and we got Black Hawk number 190. Couple of issues from Marvel this week who still only had a few titles on the racks on a monthly basis. Fantastic Four number 21 which had Nick Fury and the classic Spider-Man number seven with The Vulture.
This week Forbidden Worlds number 116, the over-may CG, had one of those early stories featuring her. 1963. In the news, club wielding troops stormed a high school in Vietnam arresting 750 students who barricaded themselves in there in protest. The Senate released a report that the atomic test ban treaty would achieve serious consequences on the US military might. And President Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary with a special dinner in the White House.
In the movies there was Frank and Come Blow Your Horn, more of those wacky romantic comedies with Doris Day, in the thrill of it all. Bye Bye Birdie came direct from Broadway, there was a story of JFK's heroism in PT-109, and Frankie and Annette on the beach in Beach Party which gave us another excuse to hear great guitar riffs from Tick-Dale. TV Tonight had episodes of The Dakotas and Ben Casey, there was a report on the progress made so far in the JFK administration, and a big change on the Peacock Network. Cully and Brickly got bumped up and the NBC News was expanded for the first time to one half hour every weeknight. On the radio a girl group that began in the early 1960s and with their original membership had a couple of minor hits.
And after a few staff changes, the new group became well known as studio singers in the New York area, doing backup for people like Neil Diamond, Trini Lopez, Lou Christie and Frank Sinatra. And then they were handed a song that would become their signature and no one would ever forget The Angels in My Boyfriend's Back. You hung around and bothered me every night, and I wouldn't go out with you, you said things that weren't very nice. My boy went back and there gonna be trouble, and you see it coming better cut out on the double. Hey la, hey la, my boy friend's back. You been spreading lies and I wasn't true.

Tonic Mix Little by little, the new TV season is beginning to build on the networks, and we've got a look at another one of those shows that comes from our little corner of the pop culture universe.
