30 years ago today, John Lennon was shot and killed by a person who we aren’t going to name.
His influence was huge in the world, and has been immortalized in comics in so many ways, from biographies to being a Skrull super-hero. And most recently, he’s been portrayed in a BBC biopic by Doctor Who‘s Christopher Eccelston, with Yoko Ono being played by Naoko Mori from Torchwood.
You’re still missed, John.

The “Six Degrees” thing – a friend of mine went to high school (at least briefly) with He Whom We Shall Not Name…
Mark David Chapman? Is he the Tom Marvolo Riddle in this picture? Why do I know the name of the guy who shot Lennon and not the name of the crazy fecker who stabbed Harrison? Is Chapman’s infamy relative to his “success” as a loony-tunes, bat-shit, stalker-killer creep? I would love to toss Chapman on the dung-heap of forgetfulness for our collective consciousness! Christ! You know it ain’t easy!
Well, who would remember the likes of Lee Harvey Oswald (or Jack Ruby, for that matter) or John Wilkes Booth or the Manson Family or John Hinckley, if not for their crimes (with some of those names just as “loony-tunes, bat-shit” as Chapman)? Booth WAS a relatively famous actor of his day, but I strongly doubt that he would have ever been very well-remembered beyond the audiences who had seen him perform.
