UPDATE: Round 2 is closed. Go vote in Round 3!
Round 2 of the Mix March Madness 2013 Webcomics Tournament starts now! Voting lasts until 9PM EDT on Wednesday, March 13!
Congratulations to everyone who made it through Round 1! We’re down to 64 webcomics, and we’ve raised almost $650 for the Hero Initiative.
We’ve heard your concerns about using Opinion Stage to tally our votes; specifically about needing a Facebook ID to vote. Although you can still purchase as many votes as you like, we understand that some of you don’t have Facebook IDs or don’t want them. We’re working on adding other ways to log in, like Twitter IDs, while still keeping the spammers and script kiddies at bay, and if we come up with more useful solutions we’ll add them in subsequent rounds.
Here are the updated brackets for the Bradbury, Kubert, Sendak, and Washington divisions. Go and vote!

Again, we’re letting you support your favorite strips by paying for additional votes, with your money going to charity. Simply click on the Donate button below, and during checkout, click on “Which comic are you donating for?” and tell us who you’re voting for. The price is going up for this round to 20¢ a vote, with a minimum of five votes purchased at a time, split any way you want. All proceeds from paid votes will go to the Hero Initiative, an organization that helps comic book creators in need. At the close of the round, we’ll add the paid votes to the totals and announce the winners who move on to the brackets. (And yes, your donations to Hero are tax deductible.)

Some of the comic links are broken in the brackets (Commander Kitty, Rusty and Co., Bird Boy). Can you fix them?
We’ll get right on that.
Fixed. Go wild. :)
NOOOOO
Why are Erfworld and Homestuck matched up? D: I think this happened last year too, erfworld always runs into some megacomic and never gets anywhere T.T
Erfworld went all the way to win in 2011, as I recall.
If it makes you feel any better, I took the time to check it out, and so far it seems pretty good?
Neither facebook nor twitter, nor any of that social network cr*p will work for me. Also annoyed that I had to turn ScriptBlocker completely off to get this far!
Here’s my voting strategy, in priority order:
Anything but Homestuck
The comics that I actually read (looking at you, Trying Human)
Anything but furry comics
Any comic losing by 7%+.
Right there with you on pulling ofr the comics you actually read, always sucks to see them lose :(
Darn it, why must we have a facebook or a twitter to vote? I AM NEITHER BOOKFACED NOR TWIT, AND DEMAND EQUAL RIGHTS!
Sadly, too many other people abused the privilege. You can always contribute to vote for your favorites, and the money would go to charity.
Yeah, like how? You said to use the pay pal donation button, I donated it still wants me to log in with Facebook.
Scott
If you donated via Paypal, you should have seen a button before checking out asking who you wanted to vote for. If you missed it, please tell us who you voted for and what email address you used, and we’ll match it up with missing donations.
Thanks for checking for other methods to validate the votes. I know it’s not exactly easy. If I knew a better solution myself, I would have voiced it!
A little thing though: Is it possible to view how the final votes of each pairing came out? Even if it’s only on the page of the respective round and not in the general brackets.
I agree. It would also be nice to see the entries listed in order of total votes they received each round – particularly the ones that got eliminated but nevertheless got more votes than some of the ones in other brackets that won.
I came here to support A Redtail’s Dream (which looks like the hottest battle this round), though I also voted for several others from my favourites.
I’m very sad that Subnormality didn’t make it in, that’s probably my favourite comic overall. I think it is likely because it updates rarely so the artist couldn’t get word out to us in time.
Working on a way to show final totals. Since we outsource the vote collection to a third party, we can’t go in and add votes when payments come in, we have to tally them separately. I’m not sure if we can easily show them in the brackets either, the software we use to make them isn’t set up for that either.
How do I use twitter to vote?
Opinion Stage is still building the Twitter login options. We’re working on it as fast as we can. For now, you can vote by logging in using Facebook or by donating to charity using the Paypal button in the article.
Thank ye kindly :)
I did like “Nimona” – read it tonight front to back and am impressed. Still have to give the graphic novel “A Redtails Dream” the nod – This tale is in the epic story category!
I also do not have or want facebook. I’m not going to be donating because I came here to vote and I cannot.
Random thought, could you possibly post a time stamp on the updates, or dates when you say “tomorrow” that way when I’m checking the site I know when to expect the next round.
