The Point Radio. I'm Mike Raub. Welcome to The Point. The Tomorrow People has debuted on the CW network. Now it's time to beat the cast and find out where the show's headed over the next few

months. Plus, we're headed to New York Comic Con and we got the details and the previews coming up. Let's get to The Point. This is The Point.

The Point Radio. Get The Point Radio. From a classic 70's television show, The Tomorrow People is a new series on the CW starring among others, Robbie Amell, who you know is the brother of Stephen Amell on Arrow. And for Robbie, getting the right role in this show was not necessarily easy.

My first audition for it was actually for a different character, it was for John. And I knew Greg prior and I went in but he wasn't in the room. I had never met Phil. I had never met Danny. Danny or Julie.

I met Julie once before but I went in and nobody said a word. I did the audition and I was like, anything? Nope? Okay, thanks. And I left and I emailed Greg.

I was like, well, I don't know how it went but nobody said anything. So who knows? And then he said, no, the room's always quiet. And three or four auditions later I was testing for John. And then Peter Roth, the president of Warner Brothers said that I had done a pilot for

Warner Brothers the year before. And he said, why don't you try for Stephen? I think he's a better Stephen and I went in for it. And that's what it needed but I couldn't be happier to be doing it. It's a dream.

Pilot season in Hollywood is pretty frantic for any actor or actress. And Faith List told me that even amid all that, this script really stood out for her. You were reading the script after script. So it's, I mean, you had a lot to compare it to and you read a script and you were like, whoa, that was amazing.

I connected to that. I felt something that that's what I felt with the script. And I think those are the ones that you're just like, I must play this role. I must be a part of this. And luckily this time it was for me.

And yeah, I just auditioned for it and I just, yeah, crossed my fingers. So what appealed to her about the show specifically? There's kind of too many things that appeal. I mean, the story is exciting. It's fast paced.

It's entertaining. Just when you're not even a part of it and you read it, that's how I felt about it. And then on top of it, it's a character that I think any girl would want to play where she's strong and knows herself and she's got superpowers and she's badass. And yeah, so you love the character.

You love the story. And then, you know, you put an awesome group of people together where you enjoy doing it and it's just kind of a dream job. As we said, The Tomorrow People is based on a 1970s classic science fiction series. And it's one that executive producer Danny Cannon remembers well.

Yeah, Warner Brothers actually brought it up. They were like, are you aware of a, I think it was a TV show called The Tomorrow People? I was like, yeah, 1975 based on the David Bowie song. I'd watched it with my sister. It was, I was amazed when I went back and watched it because in my head it was this

much more accomplished, you know, like, but when you're a kid, it's not the production value you look at. When you're a kid, I think you look at what it, you know, how you relate to it. And it was about kids from a normal neighborhood that I recognized and the accents that I recognized in London.

And how they were alienated and feeling different and, you know, a little bit invisible and left in the shadows and how that they are told that they're actually special. Every hero needs a villain and for this show, that role goes to Mark Pellegrino. My character is a evolutionary biologist by the name of Dr. Jedicaiah Price. And he's the head of a super secret organization called ULTRA and they are devoted to destroying

the Tomorrow People. Bad guy or just misunderstood? There are a few things said in the next couple episodes that make me feel like, where am I coming from? Because it does, I do seem like a devoted fanatical person intent on one mission.

But there are elements of compassion in there that make me think something else is brewing and I'm not sure what they're going to do with that yet. Mark has played his share of shady characters and he's beginning to see a little common thread here. I would like to ask the people that cast me that, what is it that you see in me that makes

you feel that I'm these characters? You know what I think? You know, I think the characters are, I hate to say, sound cliche but misunderstood in a way. You know, they are, and they're more passionate than I think I am in life about getting what

they want and that drive and ambition to achieve the end, which I think is mostly what these guys have in common, from Lucifer to Jedicaiah. We are Comic Con rolls right now in the Big Apple and here's a little bit of what's going

on. The Pop Culture Anti-Bullying Coalition will be coming to New York Comic Con. It was an organization created in part by actress Chase Masterson and author Kerry Goldman and they'll be coming in for a special panel to be held on the weekend called End Bullying Responding to Cruelty in Our Culture.

The panel has a number of different folks involved including Bonnie Burton who wrote Mean Girls, Jenna Bush, Brad Bell from Husbands and more. It takes place on Sunday at 3.45 and you can catch it in room 1A14 at New York Comic Con. The long-running Robotech franchise is celebrating a big anniversary with a huge 5 DVD set coming up soon called Robotech the Complete Set and at New York Comic Con they're doing a panel

and an exclusive screening of Robotech the Inside Story which is a behind the scenes documentary with the original 1985 production crew. That features also of course is a bonus on the DVD set as well. The panel will take place Friday at 12.30 in room 1A15 and that will again include the screening and some creative guests as well.

Robotech the Complete Set hits DVD shelves on November the 5th. Well they finally did it and it probably cost more than 6 million dollars. They've built a totally bionic band and he'll be on display at New York Comic Con. It's a new documentary from the Smithsonian Channel and The Incredible Bionic Man and the feature itself will be doing a sneak peek at New York Comic Con.

There will be a booth 357 on the floor of the convention and as I said there will be a panel and a sneak preview of the documentary and you can check that out in the program book for more information. As a new collection of Farscape headed to DVD it will be a 20 disc Blu-ray set that includes a number of extras including a Farscape mini graphic novel that's never been released

so far. That will debut at Comic Con and artist Ramon Perez will be along to sign copies of that as well. For more information you can come by booth 2309 to pre-order the set which will be available very soon or if you go by our KA Comics booth at 1344 you can also meet Ramon and get a

free Farscape postcard signed by the artist. The folks at Comicology have created a set of limited edition art cards to be given away and it was first come first serve basis of course during the show. Talent involved includes Greg Rucka and Michael Lark, Katie Cook, Sarah Richard and more. Again it's limited to a first come first serve basis.

Head over to Comicology at your earliest chance on the floor at booth number 1928. IDW was doing New York Comic Con in a big way with a whole list of no less than five panels starting with one they're calling the most explosive panel of 2013. It's on Saturday and it has IDW's Dirk Wood, Chris Rydell, Scott Dunbear and of course Darwyn Cooke and some other surprise guests as well all will talk about what's planned

for the company in the new year. There's also one involving the Taron Killiam illegitimate project that has Taron, Mark Andrako and more and that'll be on Sunday at 1045. Both those panels and more from IDW can easily be tracked with the New York Comic Con app or with your program book.

There are plenty of exclusives this year at New York Comic Con and Midtown Comics, the premier comic store. From the Big Apple has a few you might be interested in including some exclusive Marvel t-shirts in the Spiderman 2099 model, a US Agent Flag shirt and a Captain Marvel symbol. All are exclusive just to Midtown and they're all available in various sizes at the Midtown

Comics booth which is pretty easy to find on the floor. It's booth 1736. It was a great month for image with graphic novel sales in comic stores and during September we saw a jump of almost 12% in sales when compared to last year and overall for the year when you put comics and graphic novels together sales are up almost 11%.

The 10 best sellers in stores in September started number 10 with Superior Spiderman the Hardcover volume 1 from Marvel. Number 9 My Little Pony Friendship is Magic second trade paperback there. Number 8 second Saga Trade paperback from Image at number 7 the first Saga Trade paperback. Number 6 Justice League the Villains Journey of the second trade paperback in that series.

Number 5 Walking Dead the 100 Project. Number 4 Walking Dead the volume 9 Hardcover. Number 3 Star Wars the first trade paperback and then Run the Shadow of Yavin. At number 2 to Justice League Hardcover volume 3 Throne of Atlantis and the best selling graphic novel of the month East of West to trade paperback number 1 from Image.
