Jeff Foxworthy is back on the highly rated Game Show Network’s AMERICAN BIBLE CHALLENGE and talks about his transition from stand up comic to game show host, plus Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler tells us about their big screen reunion in BLENDED and DC Comics cleans house in a big way.

The Point Radio. And Mike Raub, as we inch toward the three-day weekend, we're bringing the funny this week with Jeff Foxworthy talking about how he's cleaning up over on the Game Show Network. Plus Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore back together again for Blend It, and they tell us how that works. And DC cleans house in a big way.

Let's get to the point. This is The Point, The Point Radio, get The Point Radio. At the top of the ratings of the Game Show Network is the American Bible Challenge. Back for a new season with comedian Jeff Foxworthy, his host, I sat down with Jeff and asked him to explain to me how the whole show works.

Well, you know, based on the success of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? GSN contacted me and said, hey, would you be interested in doing, you know, kind of a similar thing with the Bible? And my first thought was, is it okay to do a game show about the Bible? You know, I didn't want to be in line in hell looking up going, it was the game show, right? But, you know, the more we talked about it,

the thing I think that made it okay was the only people Jesus got sideways with were the Pharisees who had all the head knowledge, but they had no heart knowledge. And on our show, unlike any other game show, the money that these teams win, they don't keep it for themselves. They turn around and they love on somebody in their community with it. And so it's very interesting that way. And, you know, when we started out, you're like, okay, well, hopefully this works.

For the past two seasons, we've been the top rated show on GSN. And so it's kind of nice that people have responded to it that way. We have a lot of fun, a lot of questions, we have some physical games, you know, we do we try to keep it contemporary and relevant. I think one of the new games we added this year is, is it Christ for Klingon? And we take these, give you words and you have to tell us if they're from the Bible or from the Star Trek franchise. And so a lot of effort, but a lot of

laughs on this has been really well received. So what sort of people does the show see God as contestants? Well, you know what, we went all over the country, but I kind of said from day one, if you are watching this show and you have a preconceived notion about what a Christian looks like or what somebody that would study the Bible looks like, we wanted to blow that out of the water. And, and I think GSN has done a great job with that. Because I mean, we have nuns

playing next to tattoo artists, playing next to rodeo, cowboys, street rappers, women that are in the roller derby, it's it's just all across the board. And if you would think the preachers are the priest of the nuns would do the best. And, and that's not the case. I mean, sometimes, you know, the street rappers, you're just amazed at how much they know from the Bible. Coming from stand up, but of course, the blue collar comedy tour. I asked Jeff,

I made the transition from that to game show host, you know, Mike, if you had asked me, you know, 10 years ago, would I host a game show, I probably would have laughed at you. Just never saw this one coming. And Mark Burnett called me and said, Hey, I got an idea for a game show. Would you like to host it? And I said, I don't think so. What is it? And he said, adults taking an elementary school test for a shot at a million bucks. And I thought,

oh, that's great. Because even even if they're doing well, they're doing something that seven year olds do. And so I was still allowed to use the humor in there. You know, I didn't have to be like Alex Trebek and act like I knew all this stuff, I can have fun with it. And, and, and I found that I really enjoy the hosting thing. I mean, I still do stand up, but I love doing the hosting thing. And even on the Bible challenge, I can still use the humor in there. I don't think

I could do anything if I had to be totally straight, you know, straight faced through the whole thing. But when you when I could do it, and I can, and I can be funny, then, then it's fun for me. pop culture. DC took spring cleaning a little seriously and canceled six titles, all due to poor sales. Those titles include Birds of Prey, Superboy, Trinity of Sin Pandora, Trinity of Sin, The Phantom Stranger, All Star Western, and Bad Wing. Most of the titles were selling somewhere between 16 and 12,000 copies, Bad Wing being the worst seller that's selling less than 10,000 copies every month. Final issues hit stores in August and then in September, DC's fall promotion

futures and will begin to add new titles to the new 52 roster. Stephen King fans might be wondering how under the dome is going to continue for a second season being the fact that they've almost come to the end of the original Stephen King material. Well, it looks like they'll be moving beyond that with a new storyline and it is blessed by King himself. He will appear in the first episode as well as write it when the series premieres its second season on CBS on June 30th.

Another auction record set this time for original comic art and it's a page that is probably familiar to just about every one of us. It is from Incredible Hulk number 180. That last page, of course, that introduced Wolverine by Herb Trimpy and Jack Abel. Page went for just over $650,000 in an auction and the anonymous person who sold it is donating most of the profits to it to the hero initiative, the organization that helps comic creators in need. It is a record

price for a piece of American comic book art. The previous record was a splash page from Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns that sold for just under $450,000 a couple of years back. Chris Hartwig is taking all-star celebrity bowling from the web to AMC. They've signed up for a total of eight episodes of the series on the cable network and will be attracting stars like John Hamm and Bryan Cranston as well. The show was originally hit on the Nerdist YouTube channel

with well over 1 million views. Guillermo del Toro's The Strain now has an official star date on FX. Episodes begin in July, July 13th to be exact at 10 p.m. on FX. The latest project from IDW Games will be a new tabletop game based on the Chew comic series. There'll be multiple titles for the line including a board game, a card game, and dice games too and they'll all begin in early 2015 being available in stores then. Some bargains, an original graphic novel with a couple of major

characters, and a failed comic series gets it on core. All that this week waiting for you inside your comic stores from Dark Horse. The one for a dollar series continues this time Dragon Age Silent Grove number one. You can catch up on that one for just a buck. There's also a new axe cop series that begins this week from Dark Horse, axe cop American choppers, and a new Brain Boy run as well. Brain Boy Men from Gasalt that also from Dark Horse. Black Canarians at 10 are together in an

original graphic novel with writing by Paul Dini and art by Joe Quinones as well from DC. And they may have canceled the Gail Simone series The Movement but you can catch up on what went before in a trade paperback called Class Warfare out this week. We told you about how hot V-Wars from IDW had become since free comic book day. First issue long sold out, second issue sold out before it hits the stores but stores are getting some copies today hopefully you can grab one. From image a new Mark

Ballar series called MPH premieres with a bunch of different covers. At Marvel there's a second printing to all new Ghost Rider number two. And the second issue of the hottest comic of the year so far Amazing Spider-Man number two. Dynamite's Flash Gordon number one gets a second printing as well as the second issue out this week. And from Valiant XO Man Award number 24 gets a second printing with a new issue number 25 also on shelves this week as well. Even my next week is

on-screen movie couple and for this one it's more than likely Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Back together again for a new film called Blended. I ask Adam if over the course of three films their real life relationship had progressed. The progression has yes we've both have new things going on in our lives since Wedding Singer to 51st to now and we both have families and we've always stayed in touch. We've always been good friends and checking on each other as much as

possible and no matter what's going on I'm always pulling for Drew and I feel the same about her whenever I'm doing something. I know she's pulling for me and we just have a nice nice getting Drew back together again with Adam. This time was all about the script especially for Drew. It really got me about reading the script and like what gets me when I watch the movie is I want funny because I need to laugh but I need heart and I need emotional. I want to laugh and

I want to cry which is like they're twins laughter and crying and when these two people like quietly talk about how they just want to be good parents and like what is going to make their kids happy and how are they going to function in this world that just gets me and it made me like cry in the script. It makes me cry in the movie and especially when these kids say like you know I need things like when Bella and I did our scene together I couldn't get through it without crying because I

really couldn't because she's talking to me and this is a girl in this movie who needs a mom. I can relate to that. I had times in my life where I really needed a mom. I am now a mom. I'm going to be there for my kids like moms are my Achilles heel emotionally speaking and I mean we it was like one of my favorite scenes to do in the movie because the mother is that emotional figure. The question when talent like this is on screen is was it improv or was it script? I mean we get to

improvise a lot but Adam you know and Frank from my experience on The Wedding Singer and now this there's a great script that you go into it with so there are some movies where you know it's like a little more loose and then you do stuff there or it's very strict and they won't let you like straight from the script. This one is like their movies are very like well thought out and then you also get to play. So the comfort of knowing that you're getting the goods but then you have the

awesome like scary excitement feeling of like I got to come up with fun stuff to do on the day. Give them options in editing like plague. It's like fun the night before too you get like weird ideas and you like it to try them and it's just it's awesome.
