Legendary Wolverine Unveiled at Build-A-Bear Workshop

On Wednesday, September 11, hailing from the northern wilderness of Canada, the iconic Marvel character, Wolverine, is now at Build-A-Bear Workshop.

Known as one of the gruffest, most irascible, totally cynical and brooding heroes of the X-Men, Wolverine takes the stage as an online exclusive collector’s item. Complete with his classic costume and soft claws, he is ready to take on any opponent.

Once and Future

Mix Picks: Once & Future #1

Y’know, maybe it’s just because comics just got done with telling an Arthurian story THAT TOOK THIRTY YEARS TO FINISH, but I’m looking for something a bit more… fast-paced, you know what I mean?

Luckily, here comes BOOM! and Kieron Gillen, Dan Mora, and Tamra Bonvillain with Once & Future #1, a rip-roaring old-timey adventure story with fun protagonists I’ve never encountered before (though I could easily see Diana Rigg in one of the roles, and I’m not telling you more than that) and what hints and a very different way of telling a story that we all thought we knew.

You can pre-order the paperback, of course, but it won’t be out until March and I think you could really do with something light-hearted now, don’t you? It’s been a rough week. Get #1 now and have some laughs.

Oh, there’s a trailer, too; but you’d only be spoiling the discovery. However, if you must…

An actor who plays Loki the Trickster in a play about betrayal? While the actor playing Daredevil right next to Hell’s Kitchen? What are the odds?

If you wonder why people say comics rots your brain, read on…

A St. Louis, Missouri, comic book enthusiast was heartbroken when his entire collection was stolen. Luckily for him, the suspects selected his comic store to try unloading the rare books.

One of the thieves apparently had no idea she was trying to sell the comics back to their rightful owner, so he played dumb and set up a trap. https://t.co/5IyGdtVFOl

I’m glad that Martin Casas was able to get his books back, and I look forward to seeing Apotheosis Comics & Lounge (3206 S. Grand Boulevard, St. Louis, MO, 314-802-7090), a combination comic book store and bar, for myself. What more could you ask for in a shop?

We Must Defend Thanos’s Constitutional Right to Snap His Fingers and Make Half of the Universe Disappear

We Must Defend Thanos’s Constitutional Right to Snap His Fingers and Make Half of the Universe Disappear

We try not to get political here at ComicMix, but this is just too important in the wake of current events to ignore.

The Second Amendment is clear: the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Granted, when the Founding Fathers wrote that amendment, they understood an “arm” to be a musket, which, if you were a practiced expert, could fire (at best) maybe three or four rounds a minute. But don’t you think that they probably kind of also assumed “arms” would eventually mean that any American or intergalactic Titan, if he or she so chose, could if snap their fingers (which are attached to the arms) and instantly wipe out 50% of life on the planet? If you read — actually read — the Constitution, I think you definitely get this vibe that they saw this kind of situation coming.

Wakandacon is back with all things Black

Wakandacon Forever– okay, this weekend only, but still!

Wakandacon, a three-day Afrofuturistic convention that celebrates Black culture, was created last year by siblings and Chicagoland natives Ali, David, and Matt Barthwell. They were inspired by the futuristic society depicted in Marvel’s comic book series and box-office hit Black Panther to curate a space for Black creatives that recaptures the communal magic of Wakanda. At the heart of the convention is the concept of Afrofuturism, an artistic and cultural framework for imagining tech-savvy, self-determined futures for Black communities.

Meet the New Writers of James Bond 007 – Vita Ayala and Danny Lore

Vita Ayala and Danny Lore are writing the new “James Bond 007” comic, and if some people were ticked at a black woman taking over 007 before…

There’s been a whole lot of noise about Lashana Lynch, most recently seen as Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel, being given the 007 number in the film currently known only as Bond 25. A black woman as 007?

We suspect there’s going to be even more noise over this. Bleeding Cool reports:

Vita Ayala and Danny Lore are the new writers for Dynamite Entertainment’s comic book series, James Bond 007, with art from Eric Gapstur . The new James Bond 007 #1 comic book will be published in October with covers from Jimmy Cheung.

We here at ComicMix are big fans of Vita and Danny, and look forward to reading it in three months… unless, of course, they slip us an early look…

Bro, Do You Even Edit? Justice League: Release the Snyder Cut Ads Spotted at Comic-Con

Bro, Do You Even Edit? #ReleaseTheSnyderCut ads for “Justice League” spotted at Comic-Con

Bro, Do You Even Edit? Justice League: Release the Snyder Cut Ads Spotted at Comic-Con

Fans hoping to convince Warner Bros. to release an extended cut of Justice League as envisioned by director Zack Snyder have taken out a billboard in San Diego to greet fans during Comic Con International, marking the latest in a series of highly visible requests from the fans.

Fans supporting the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag will descend on San Diego wearing t-shirts, paying for billboards and, if past behavior is any indicator, probably asking questions about the cut at DC and Warner Bros. events. The campaign has become long enough and visible enough to compare to the efforts by fans to pressure Warner Bros. into releasing Richard Donner’s cut of Superman II — which they eventually did, but it took about 20 years.
