Excelsis Heroes: The Art of Berto Martinez Morales

Description

In Excelsis-at the highest point-is where superheroes exist. Not only in physical space, but also on an ethical
and moral plane. Beyond their iconic appearances, superheroes embody inner strength, doubt, and emotional
complexity. While their visual impact is undeniable, it is their psychological and emotional depth that gives them
meaning-an aspect thoughtfully explored in Berto Martínez’s illustrations.

For the past two years, Barcelona-based illustrator Berto Martínez Morales has been quietly and persistently
reinterpreting his favorite American comic book characters. What began as a personal exercise has evolved
into a focused and expressive body of work. This book brings together that artistic journey, featuring series
dedicated to Batman, the X-Men, and the Avengers-a collection that reflects both admiration for these
legendary figures and a distinctive, contemporary artistic vision.
