Voices From Krypton: The Boy Who Will Be BATMAN
Transcript
I'm Ed Gross, this is Voices from Krypton, and David Massouce is Batman. Well, not quite Batman yet. He portrays Bruce Wayne on Gotham, and in this recent interview he discusses the fact that Bruce will be transforming more into the Dark Knight this season. He won't be wearing the costume, but he'll be playing a much greater detective role on
the show, and psychologically is moving closer to Batman territory. I actually, Danny had discussed it with me and Sean a little bit before, he said that he had an idea, and so I kind of knew it was coming. When I read the script, I got, I really, I felt something in my heart, and I threw the script on the floor.
And I just sat there and was like, this is it, this is the start of Batman, and it's season two, it's just going to go up from there. It's going to take that exact route, and it's going to go, it's just going to go up. Bruce is 13, I think he's, yeah, I think he's 13, and he's such a smart person. I mean, he's Batman, but at 13, he's, he knows how to get to the, he knows who the crime
people are. He's interested in it, he's just the fact that he's interested in it, the fact that he can actually go, has the courage to go to the Wayne Enterprises board and know what he's talking about. It shows that he is one of the most intelligent people ever, which leads to him becoming the
greatest detective while he's Batman. But I think it's, that whole storyline, it's really showing that he's just brilliant. He has a brilliant mind for a really young age, and he's only going to train it and evolve it and bring it to a higher level over the entire show. Psychologically, do you think that Bruce is already sort of, do that transition in sort
of a Batman mindset, I mean, in the sense of becoming so focused on, not revenge necessarily at this point, but the split for King Bruce Wayne and Batman, do you feel that that's starting to happen already? I think that in season one, it wasn't really happening. In season one, he was just kind of grieving, and he was very determined on, he had an obsession
start to form, he was very, hell bent, he was very determined on his parents' murder and getting revenge in a sense, or just kind of seeing who his father was, what Antipodges was, but in season, but it wasn't really Batman yet. He was just a kid who wanted to know what happened to his parents. In season two, he's going to start to be Batman, and that's a fact.
He's going to have whatever's down that stairwell, he's going to have that, he's going to have that, which is Fox, played by Chris Chalk, who's going to come on this season, he was on a little bit last year, and Alfred, and it's going to be the three of them working together to evolve him. When Batman is Batman, there's his Batman side and there's public persona, his Bruce
Wayne side, which is a Playboy kind of guy, and in season two, Bruce is going to start to evolve that second persona, public persona. He's going to make the public think that Bruce Wayne is a loser, and he's a Playboy, and he's a party boy, and he doesn't actually care about anything, which is what Batman does, but he's going to start to do that in season two.
Alfred, Lucius, and Bruce are really going to, like Sean likes to say, is they're going to become Operation No Guys. There's so many villains teaming up, there's mobs of villains, there's guys who are constantly teaming up, killing each other, but you don't really feel that, and then there are other teams.
The villains are a team, especially with the mobs that are also in season two, you're going to feel the same kind of sense of that teamwork in Operation No Guys. I'm Ed Grunz, thanks for listening to Voices from Krypton.
