#SDCC: Mattel unleashes next wave of DC Plasticy Doom (Patrol)!
Folks walking the tiny (ahem) floor at the San-Diego Comic Con this weekend got a sneak peak at the 197 10th and 11th wave of Mattel’s DC Universe Classics line! While wave 10 continues to add another New God to it’s ranks, Wave 11 starts a whole new year of figures you’ll be stomping over kids in Wal-Mart for… That’s right, wave 11 introduces the Green Lantern Corps (and probably the multi-hued combatants forthcoming as well…)!

WAVE 10
• Joker, with Cane, Laughing Fish, Playing Cards, and Giganto-Mallet!
• Batman, 90’s Michael Keaton-Style… with… giant… folding Bat-Computer thing?
• Power Girl, with Giant Bust, and Thighs with Walnut-Crushing-Power!
• Forager- with Shield and Wrist Blaster
• Beast Boy, Doom Patrol Style, with “I Transform into this!” Bird!

If you’re anything like me, your interest in the upcoming animated Marvel Super Hero Squad Show was pretty low, based as it is on a line of toys and comic strips meant for kids too young to know that proper superhero stories involve lots of rape and horrible gory messes. Which is to say, I thought it would be fine for its target demographic, but a little too lowbrow to have the same level of grown men in tights and Neil Patrick Harris musical numbers that the discerning adult requires.
Man, is the Twerd Herd out in force for this panel. Not surprising, considering the subject matter, but– wow.

The 21st annual Eisner Awards, the “Oscars” of the comics industry, will be given out at a gala ceremony at a brand-new location: the Indigo Ballroom at the Hilton Bayfront. This year’s special them is “Comics and All That Jazz.” Scheduled presenters include writer/actors Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (Reno 911, Balls of Fury), acclaimed comics creators Jeff Smith and Terry Moore, actor/comedian Patton Oswalt, actor/musician/writer Bill Mumy, actress/musician Jane Wiedlin, and G4’s Blair Butler, with many more to be announced.
