Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike

Well, maybe not the NJ Turnpike, but it seemed like every car in the world was in the Garden State Parkway heading southward both yesterday and today.  Kinda fun if one’s travelling northward, but not at all amusing when one is among the plastic and metal hordes.  It’s nice to come home to one’s own bed, one’s own computer desk, and one’s own ComicMix colleagues; here’s what we all cooked up for you this past week:

Of course our newest addition, Andrew Wheeler, has been cranking ’em out day in and day out, hope you’ve been keeping up! In addition, Robert Greenberger‘s had some crack analyses, Matt Raub‘s been reviewing everything in sight, and even Glenn Hauman made another columnar appearance this past week with Above and Beyond #3: Who made comics piracy big?.  Plenty of cool reads during these hot times!

ComicMix columns declare independence

Between the final episode of this season’s Dr. Who airing on the Beeb last night, and this afternoon’s "live" (read: an hour delayed) VH1 running of the Concert for Diana (sure, I could have seen the actual live stream online, but then I wouldn’t be able to do anything else with my computer), it seems this weekend as though England must have won that war a couple hundred years ago, at least the cultural end of it.  Nonetheless, our ComicMix columnists have been doing our all-American best to keep you entertained this past week, and here’s your weekly wrap-up of our latest:

Overloaded on cons?

The older some of us get, the more tendency to burn out.  Transportation troubles and physical limitations may conspire to prevent us from getting the full con experience, but when you can keep up with everything from the comfort of your own computer, things don’t seem so bad.  Here’s your weekly wrap-up of ComicMix columns:

While my ComicMix colleagues are having the time of their lives in Charlotte or Philly, I’m moping here in NY with a bad case of the sufferin’ sciaticas.  It breaks my heart, I love Heroes Con and really wanted to be a part of its big silver anniversary celebration.  Oh well, at least I can catch up on comics reading while hearing about all the cool stuff to come (PAD on She-Hulk!  Dwayne on JLA!  MWaid back on Flash!  Oh yes, I’m a happy fangirl) and, of course, bring you the weekly columnist wrap-up:

Deborah Pratt’s New Quest

That sounds a wee bit like a personal ad, but it’s my character on Deborah Pratt’s (of Quantum Leap fame) newest endeavor TheVisionQuest.com.  The Emmy-nominated writer and voice of Ziggy for the hit sci-fi series Quantum Leap, Pratt has created a major new multi-platform science fiction series. An actress with starring roles in popular TV series such as Airwolf and Magnum PI, Pratt brought a new creation to life: The Vision Quest – Book One: The Age of Light. The book will be released on August 1st.

The first book in a trilogy, The Vision Quest tells of an Earth set 130 years into the future as experienced through the adventures of hero Cole "Lazer" Lazerman and his friends.  I could tell you more about this fantastic journey, but you would be missing out the experiencing it yourself, so log onto TheVisionQuest.com, read the book and look for other formats of Deborah’s new world that will covered in multiple platforms including games for Nintendo’s Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox, on-line webisodes, short animated features and a the complete trilogy in feature films.
